(CNS): The police arrested three people over the weekend in two separate raids in the eastern districts and recovered two handguns and eight rounds of ammunition. An RCIPS spokesperson said that a “proactive investigation” at an address in North Side on Friday resulted in the discovery of a handgun and one live round of ammunition.  A 35-year-old man who was arrested as a result on suspicion of firearms offences remains in custody.

Then, on Sunday 7 June in another unrelated “proactive” operation two men, aged 35 and 24, were also arrested on firearm related offences. The RCIPS said a handgun and seven live rounds of ammunition were found at an address in Bodden Town and the two men remain in custody.
