Police chopper spots stolen car in West Bay
(CNS): The RCIPS Air Operations Unit has found the blue Toyota Highlander stolen in South Sound last week. The RCIPS said the helicopter was on patrol Wednesday afternoon, 12 October, when it spotted the SUV in West Bay. The vehicle appeared to have been abandoned at an isolated location in the district but no arrests have been made. The car was reported stolen sometime between 10pm on 4 October and about 7:30am on 5 October, when the owner discovered it was missing from an apartment complex on South Sound Road near George Hicks Memorial Church.
Anyone who has information about this or other crimes is asked to call GTPS 949-4222 or the confidential RCIPS Tip Line at 949-7777. Anonymous tips can be provided to Crime Stoppers at 800-8477(TIPS), or online here.
I have heard that the person who owns this vehicle it in no way shape or form asked for it to be given higher priority. They are an average resident here, no link to the government, police, etc. It was a simple report of a stolen vehicle that then took of a life of it’s own. Perhaps the police wanted to give it higher priority in order to deter thieves who think they can get away with it. Let’s all just be positive for the person who’s car was recovered and let this be a warning to the thieves that they cannot get away with this. Being negative is not serving anyone. There were other break-ins at a nearby development the same night. My theory is this car may have been used to transport those goods. The more we can show that the police are on top of these crimes, the more it will hopefully deter this crimes from being committed. This one may have been made an example for this reason because there had been so many stolen cars in the last 2 months…Enough is enough.
Stolen cars are used to commit crimes such as burglary, robbery and murder as get away vehicles. just do your bit when the police publish these vehicles and pass the info in before these stolen cars are used in crimes. Lets stop the constant criticism. No on has anything good to say but equally have no solutions. To publish this sort of information is a good initiative by the police so lets do our bit.. thankfully it was found and before being used in a crime.
And this car belonged to the daughter of which important person?
The Police Helicopter’s Pilot!
Love the way the helicopter takes on a personality “it spotted the car”. Like saying the Dodge Charger spotted the burglar, we’ll be giving them all names soon
Copty McCopface?
Arguably the most important car in Cayman!
Most famous at least.
But the helicopter was useless and a waste of money.
why?
One reason I find it useless and inefficient is the fact we don’t have rescue men jumping from it to save or assist people in need whether it be on land or on the ocean. Also, I understand it can only occupy one person at a time.
SO, wasted money indeed.
It’s a police support helicopter first and foremost, not an air sea rescue chopper ( which would be way more expensive and fairly useless for police support). It’s a bit like saying you want it to be a Ferrari instead of a mini, when you don’t have the money for a Ferrari and want it for driving around time, but once a year want to drive really fast.
This is Cayman. We want the Ferrari. Even if absolutely useless here, we still want it. Mac would have given us the Ferrari.
Mac would have given us the Ferrari! Then he would have bought another Ferrari for himself on his Government Credit Card, had no maintenance plan or fuel budget for the Ferraris and they would have been on blocks in a driveway within 6 months. – But we would still have had our Ferrari!
Why do so many stolen vehicles end up abandoned in Barkers?.
Somehow I fear people will blame Oxitec.
True that, why so much attention?
Cars are often stolen in Cayman. Why was this one particularly important?
Yep, and no surprise it turned up in West Bay.
Best hiding place for thieves, criminals, churches and corrupt politicians.
I guess that where you live ass cheese.
Tell us more about where your from?
yea just like driftwood.
I was thinking the same thing…my car was stolen weeks ago I haven’t heard a peep from the rcip to this date… makes you wonder..
you not in de lodge…
