Wanted man calls into talk show from Jamaica

(CNS): A man claiming to be Shavan Claude Brown (28), who is wanted by the RCIPS in connection with a drug boat found last week on Cayman Brac, called into a local talk show on Monday from Jamaica, claiming that he was not on the island at the time the boat was seized. On Sunday, the police issued an appeal for information about Brown and confirmed that an earlier appeal for another man was a case of mistaken identity.

Police have said they are aware of the call between Cayman Marl Road and the man purporting to be Shavan Brown but said he remains of interest to both the RCIPS and CBC in relation to the drug boat seizure.

“The RCIPS encourages Mr Brown to identify himself to the police, either in Cayman or Jamaica, if he wishes to establish his location at the time of the incident,” the RCIPS said in an email response to questions from CNS.

When he called into CMR’s Cold Hard Truth, hosted by Sandy Hill, Brown claimed that he was deported from the Cayman Islands last year and is now in Jamaica working in construction.

On Sunday, police named Brown as the third missing man following the drug boat interception last week and circulated his picture. They had previously said that, based on information given to the RCIPS, they believed the fugitive was armed and dangerous and that anyone who sees him should call 911 immediately to report his whereabouts.

At the weekend, two people were arrested following a raid at the home where police believed Brown was staying but Brown was not there. Two other men have already been arrested in connection with the drug boat.
