NRA to work on major GT junction over holiday weekend
(CNS): The National Roads Authority (NRA) and its subcontractor will be undertaking paving works at the Bobby Thompson and Smith Road intersection on Saturday. Officials said the work will start at 6:00am and continue until 5:00pm. Motorists will be diverted around the intersection while the work is going on. Drivers are asked to pay close attention to cones, signs and safety lights. Motorists should plan ahead and watch out for traffic diversions.
Members of the public can email nra@nra.ky with questions or comments regarding this project. For urgent concerns, please call 525-1251.

Of course the other way through town will be closed for an elite event.
NRA please now also blow out the drains, install more drains and ctachments throughhout these islands but especially in the more flood prone areas.
Saturday 8th and Monday 10th June 2024 were your indication the CPA got it all wrong when they allowed and still allowing these big developers to change the terrain of the lands they
are now developing on. Thus causing much more flooding in the surrounding properties that did not flood nowhere near to the level we are seeing now.
Even though it might not be the NRA fault directly, indirectly it would seem that the NRA is slow to get around to maintaining their drains at best times and not at all during worst case scenarios.
As the saying goes “One ounce of prevention, is better than a pound of cure”.
So, please and thank you for your proactive works that you all will carryout like yesterday.
The relief for red-light running idiots. They can now travel even faster through the junction.
They did it overnight. So perhaps the info given was wrong.
It was fine. Surprised no drunk drivers crashed into them!
They just “completed” a new road layout in this general area. What? They just realized that they weren’t finished???
Typical!!
Slightly off topic: different location, but I decided to check my letter box at the GPO this public holiday afternoon, to be faced with work on the road which seems to be ongoing for ever. Signs and cones were everywhere, and I was forced to detour via Shedden Road/ Seafarers Way/Fort Street/Edward Street, find a place to park and slosh through puddles to check my box, which sadly contained no mail. Happy birthday, Your Majesty.
Please, NRA, do better.
Saturday on a long weekend, good planning as always!
This is all well and good until either Water Authority (the usual culprit) or other agencies come behind, and dig it up again. They are so slappy that after they done digging the trench, they don’t repair it properly or back to the condition they have found it. Welcome to Absurdism.
Road work should be done at night.
It’s dark at night idiot!
Why can’t this be done overnight?
And why can’t it be announced a week in advance?
NRA is less than competent.
They and the big time subcontractors do not understand crowning of roads to drain water.
#WorldClass
Anyone considered that CIG is deliberately sinking businesses to try and reduce the values of commercial real estate as well as get a few people on permits sent home?
Causalities will be a handful of Caymanian businesses…which we know CIG doesn’t care about.
I sometimes wonder if its opposite day here. They seem to like working at the exact time they should not be working.
Main road you say bobo – yah man lets do it middle of the day saturday.
Junction should be a roundabout.
hahahahahaha….close that junction on the busiets day for traffic, WTF!
NRA should have night shifts for this crap. But then again they can barely get 4-5 men on one shovel, so it would take 8-10 men at night.
idiots. absolute, unmitigated idiots. Do all this damn work at night like everywhere else in the civilized world.
