East End crash victim dies in UK
(CNS): A British woman who was involved in a major car crash on Old Robin Road as she headed towards East End last month has died. Kate Clayton (30) was airlifted back to the UK just over one week ago, still in a coma, after family and friends had launched an appeal to raise the money to pay for the medical airlift back to her home town hospital in Southampton.
According to the local press, she lost her fight for survival, passing away Wednesday morning in intensive care.
Clayton broke her neck and pelvis and sustained other critical injuries that had left her paralyzed after losing control of the Jeep Wrangler she was driving on Old Robin Road at around 10pm on the night of 11 January. The car veered off the road and collided with large trees, police stated, and the woman had to be cut from the car by emergency personnel.
Clayton, who was from Southampton, had moved to Cayman in 2013 to work as a divemaster, having left her job with the UK broadcasting firm, Sky Television. Police said that she had been at Over the Edge in North Side and was driving home to East End when the crash happened.
The cause of the accident is under investigation by officers from the Bodden Town Police Station and anyone with information is asked to call Police Constable Gilzeane at 649-2220.
