CIMA’s AML chief identified as body in car blaze
(CNS): Police have finally confirmed that the body found in a blazing car three days ago in Lookout Gardens was Judiann Myles (47), from Bodden Town, but they have still not said that they are treating her death as murder. Myles was a veteran public servant, having spent almost three decades with CIMA, where she was promoted to head of the anti-money laundering division last June.
The RCIPS said in a press release that the investigation into the incident remains ongoing. On Friday, police said they were exploring all necessary lines of enquiry but initial findings have led detectives to believe that this is an isolated incident.
They have offered no further comment on the state of the investigation, what they believed happened to Myles or rumours about a potential suspect that have been circulating on social media since the discovery of the body by the RCIPS on Thursday afternoon.
On Sunday, when the police revealed that the body was Myes, they asked people to be responsible with the information they circulate.
“Police are urging members of the public to act responsibly when sharing information on social media and to be mindful of the impact such posts may have on the community, the investigation, and the grieving family. The RCIPS extends its sincere condolences to Mrs Myles’ family and loved ones during this difficult time,” RCIPS officials stated.
Anyone with information that may assist the investigation is encouraged to contact the RCIPS Major Incident Room at 649-2930.

Still no press conference held by RCIPS? WHAT IS GOING ON! this is NOT normal! The head of AML was murdered and burned and everyone, including CIG, The Governor are silent! WHY? The UK?
Where are the UK cops? This seems like it should b a big deal.
Trying to deal with their own problems.
Isolated incident wow ! The mere fact we have someone roaming around our community that is capable of this type of horrific crime speaks volumes. We hope she is not added to the list of Anna Evans Kerriann Baker and Eva Ebanks and more before them that have gone unsolved and forgotten. This level of and type of horrific violence sadly has become far too common place here now and is imported and we seem to have some in government and political realm who are indifferent to it and believe it cannot happen to them.injustice anywhere is a threat to justice everywhere.
08@9:30AM – Eva Ebanks’ and Kerrann Baker’s murders were targeted. Cops know who did both but poor police work in gathering enough evidence ruined the cases. Two of Kerrann’s murderers are in prison for other crimes (one up North and one in UK), while the mastermind is dead. Even dear Estella was targeted, not random as the trial played out.
Everyone in Brac and most of Grand knows who killed Eva. Then there’s baby Azelia Dixon-Powell.
Last week’s horrific murder appears to be targeted, but I’m just a layman.
No question that we could have any kind of sick predators in our little “melting-pot” capable of committing such a murder as that of last week, but this is no serial killer-type scenario.
She knew her killer. He/she sent her to buy the petrol she was burned with!!
RCIPS has proven to be incapable of solving such murders, please bring in UK teams for this one.
Setting aside all small-town conjecture: Commissioner Walton, we need a thorough investigation, and may the chips fall where they may. Justice can no longer be just a word in these beloved isles.
A cpuntry whose international reputation is still that of a dodgy jurisdiction, with constant battles to keep itself off a FATF blacklist, has its head of money laundering turn up dead in a blazing car absent any crash, and the police still cant bring themselves to says its murder? Whats next – they are going to call it suicide? You can see how that’s really going to help our reputation. Get a task force in from the UK and deal with this – not sure her family let alone the wider community are going to be satisfied with this clown show.
Presumably written and approved by those with absolutely zero understanding of the industry.
Ah yes, of course — because a top anti-money laundering official mysteriously dying in a burning car without a crash is just another routine day in the “industry,” right? Thank you for enlightening us, oh wise one, with your deep insight into how these things are definitely not suspicious at all. Clearly, public concern over an incident of this magnitude is just ignorance at play. Maybe next time we should all just shrug and say, “industry standard.” Bravo.
The above post and the number of likes further confirm our suspicions that a significant portion of the posters on this news channel straight up dislike the Cayman Islands.
Judging by the valueless nonsense people are posting here, I’d respectfully suggest that this post be closed to comments. There are grieving family out there folks. I’d say their feelings count for more than your prurient speculation.
What did she know??
Shocking that crimes like this can happen on our small island, and I have zero faith in our RCIPS being able to track down her killer(s)!
What did she know? Most likely, a man.
Follow the money. She probably discovered something in her line of work (sadly).
HIGHLY doubtful….
It is shocking that after 3 days there were not a single press conference held by RCIPS as if murder of a person is normal and usual in Cayman, especially of a person of such caliber.
Its because of who she is – RCIPS terrified of the “money launders/ cartels/organised crime killed the head of money laundering” story hitting the internet. So try avoid identifying her, and certainly not saying its murder.
My prayers
go out to her family, friends, coworkers.Such a senseless murder. As for the RCIPS, they are so confused, wouldn’t even hold a press conference. Cayman sadly has attracted the wrong type of foreigners to our shores.
so sad. awful.
Wow she’s beautiful. May she RIP.
Such a weird comment.
Unbelievably weird. Pervy weird.
??? I’m just a woman giving her a compliment & paying my respect with RIP. Get your mind out the gutter maybe.
You funny funny?
Im shocked and deeply saddened to hear of the murder of my friend and classmate. How evil and senseless to put out the spark and life of such a brilliant and sweet person. My deepest condolences to the family. RIP Judiann!
