Fire under investigation at centre holding migrants
(CNS) UPDATED: The Cayman Islands Fire Service (CIFS) has opened an investigation into a fire at the Bodden Twon Civic Centre, where Cuban migrants are being housed, that ignited on Saturday night at about 8:30pm. No one was hurt as a result of the blaze but no details have been released about the level of damage, what caused the fire or if it was an accident or arson.
This is not the first time that there has been a fire at the civic centres holding migrants which are not designed as living accommodation. The last fire at the Bodden Town Centre was said to have been a small electrical fire in September.
CBC said that it had made alternative arrangements for the 16 people who were staying at the centre. The agency confirmed Tuesday that they had been moved to Breakers Civic Center on a temporary basis. Personnel from the prison service are overseeing shift operations and providing on-scene support at the center.
CBC added its thanks to the several partners within the Cayman Islands Government who have and continue assist it with migrant-related matters including this recent fire.

Civic centre was a death trap and everyone knew it.
Isn’t this the district’s already woefully inadequate hurricane shelter, or have they finally finished the church/shelter that has been plundering public funds for decades?
Pastor Rose and Dwayne Seymour will probably soon say again that they need another 3million to finish the work. And Julianna will say that we have come so far and spent so much money that it is too late to turn back now.
Just a question, how much of the cost to build the church and parking lot and other tings has the Govt paid for?
Last question, how much of the church and property does the Govt/public own?
What happened to you that you hate churches so much?
