(CNS): Unemployed Caymanians looking to earn some money for the holidays are being invited to register for this year’s Christmas clean-up. The Ministry of Planning has announced the return of the National Community Enhancement Project (NiCE Programme), offering 20 days of temporary work for local people in December and January.

Those who join the programme will be working on projects that contribute to the improvement of local infrastructure, public spaces, the environment, roadside maintenance and beach cleaning.

The work will take place for ten days between 9 and 20 December and another ten days between 6 and 18 January. Caymanians over the age of 18 who are interested in doing the work can register online through the official government portal from today, 15 November, until next Thursday, 21 November.

Participants will develop valuable skills and gain practical experience that can enhance employability.

Planning Minister Jay Ebanks said it was more than an employment opportunity but a “call to action” for Caymanians to make a positive impact. “This initiative allows participants to gain valuable work experience while fostering a sense of pride and ownership in the beautiful Cayman Islands. I encourage all eligible individuals to join us in this worthwhile effort to improve and maintain our public spaces,” he said.

    Rampant Sexual Expliotation

Our government and our people need to understand, explain and begin exposing a lot of these government and private sector businesses and there managers who partiscipate and engage in the Taboo Unspoken Swingers Club that encourage both our young men and women into Swinging for personal, political or corporate favors that most of the time leads to bribery, ruined relationships and sometimes exclusion from certain people or groups

Swinging is when one or both persons in a manogamus relationship engage in fliting or extra materal affairs where some people in power usually manipulate, threaten, intimidate or use there position of power with extreme violence to silence a person that usually leads to the destruction of some people professional careers and there personal lives

Somehow the NRA, PLA, and NAU still can’t manage to paint a single set of north-south, east-west bike lanes.

Can we hear from any political candidates on what they plan to do about back yard mechanics messing the country up? Or the “fishing” boats {cough, cough) running from residential lots? Take a look down Prospect Drive for example, drive around and tell what’s going on is ok?

Could we please have members of the Opposition appointed as foremen to oversee this program???
I have crossed some of them and many are sitting down as they are physically unable to do the work.
The money will go into the hands of the Minister’s puppets.

Maybe while they are out they could advise government on where derelict vehicles are littered so they could be collected. Please don’t let them just paint a curb. It’s always 5 people standing around watching 2 paint.

You know paint doesn’t dry unless you have people watching it?

It’s the same for NRA when digging holes and stuff. You need people looking at it to ensure the hole doesn’t close up.

The derelict vehicles situation in Grand Cayman is terrible. There must be thousands of them. Bodden Town alone probably has three or four hundred, some even on the main road side but most down the side roads.

All well and good, but here I go again repeating myself. “Why hasn’t any government ever set this up as an ongoing all year round job?”

We spend money on so many frivolous things. I would like to see these roadside clean-up crews funded to work all year long. That’s what they do on the Brac, and the place looks terrific. The crews work hard and it shows.

I eagerly wait to see the crews of people decked out in skinny jeans and fashion t-shirts, combined with high vis vests, doing some painting of curbs, or half heartedly picking up fast food packaging from a bush.

If these people are willing to work all year round, there’s plenty of jobs on this level.

If you don’t work for CIG, and you’re not one of these ‘work for a few days a year’ types, how do you get those lovely government dollars?

Grand Cayman is like a giant trashcan in many parts. Either employ people to do this all year round, or use prisoners, or don’t bother with this ‘lipstick on a pig’ welfare scheme.

Hopefully it’s still $10 ph but I’m still running a book on this with odds on there being a ‘NICE’ pre-election pay rise and/or bonus. They’ve pretty much covered handouts to the rest of the voting populace already.

Can we please stop employing so many non Caymanians in this program? It is intended to help support local people in need. An extension of social services, and an opportunity for struggling local people to gain some benefit and advantage. Yet hundreds of expatriates are allowed to join this gravy train. Why?

Are the expats or just people who have Caymanian Status who weren’t born here? If it’s the latter, another name for them is “Caymanians”.

Only Caymanians over the age of 18 are allowed to register. Whether everyone is being vetting, I can’t say.

Those that are married to Caymanians are NOT Caymanians. Hell, even some of the people they are calling Caymanian are not Caymanian.

What I said is true. You can argue the ‘whatabout’ of everything, but what you think is Caymanian and what isn’t is not really correct, is it?
