(CNS): The police are looking for the driver of a black Honda CR-V that collided with a motorcycle on North Sound Road, near Portland Road, shortly after 12:50am on Wednesday, 23 October. The Honda, an older model CR-V that appeared to have been newly painted, continued on its way after the crash. The bike rider, who sustained what appeared to be non-life-threatening injuries, was taken to the Cayman Islands Hospital, police said.

The Traffic & Roads Policing Unit is investigating the crash. Officers are keen to speak with the driver of a grey Honda Stream that arrived on the scene shortly after the smash. If you are the driver of this vehicle or have any other information regarding this collision, please contact PC Dawkins at 924-1072.

Anyone else who may have witnessed the collision or who saw the vehicle that left the scene is asked to contact the police. Anonymous tips can be provided directly to the RCIPS Confidential Tip Line at 949-7777 or the website. Tips can also be submitted anonymously to Cayman Crime Stoppers website.

Why can’t the Police scrutinise the DVLA database to find the vehicle based on model and colour etc. Oh I forgot. Half the vehicles on the road are not licenced according to figures from recent road safety policing purge.

The best is when you see the completely faded down to the metal old yellow license plates and you know that car hasn’t been inspected for at least a decade.

Well, if there would be any cops out doing speed traps you would catch half of these idiots every single day. Here’s a great tip, set up traps around 6:20am on any of the bypasses.

There’s a gold mine for ticketing or roadblocks between Countryside and Woodland Drive every single day and night but the only sirens you hear or see are ambulances flying to and from Shetty’s hospital / Eastern Districts.

Honestly there was a period here when there was far too much contact with police for everyday persons. The vast, vast majority of us need to be left completely alone to get on with our lives whether we are going 3 or 5 or 7 miles over the ‘limit’ or not. (I don’t know why it’s called a limit considering it’s also an offence to go too slow but I digress). Our speed limits have barely changed in the time since I started driving despite the fact that our roads are now of much better quality. So are cars for that matter. It would be unconscionable for police to be doing aggressive traffic work. Hand out a few hundred tickets to some stressed residents just trying to get places on time using their modern cars on modern roads is just a recipe to piss everybody off.

Also, people don’t know that the CCTV is not monitored live, if there is an issue they try and go back and review the tapes.

RCIPS waited 5 days before publishing this. How does that help?

They probably tool 4 days to ask for the CCTV or had to figure out the color of the vehicle once they watched it.

This is the best photos they can muster? A black Honda crv. So one of the 1000 on island?

Didn’t we pay millions for RFID plates and CCTV infrastructure?

No. If we had the police would be arresting those responsible for criminal fraud or negligence on the Caymanian people.

Interesting how the photos seem to be from private property too lol.. and that roundabout is supposed to have a couple mounted on a pole exactly where it drove by.

      WTF RCIPS??

8:18, “supposed to have a couple mounted on a pole”

In fact, there are hundreds throughout the island, that do absolutely nothing but decorate the pole to which they are fixed. They’d be better off converting them into bat or bird boxes which would serve more purpose.

The name of that project like so many others in Cayman also begins with the word “C” and ends with the sound “shun”.

The Governor needs to explain. The press should persist in demanding a full explanation. Her office is responsible for the police. Her office is responsible for good governance, whether or not our politicians are inept. #itsashitshow
