(CNS): The RCIPS has begun an investigation into an armed robbery at a restaurant on Eastern Avenue, George Town, which took place early Monday. Just after 1am, the police received a report that a member of staff at the restaurant was preparing to close for the night when a masked robber appeared through the food service hatch, brandishing a firearm and demanding money. The employee gave the suspect an undisclosed quantity of cash and he made his escape on a bicycle heading along Eastern Avenue towards Shedden Road.

The man is described as about 30 years old, 5`10″, of slim build, with light brown skin and spoke with a Caymanian accent. He was wearing gloves, a mask that covered his face, and a hooded jacket.

Although the restaurant has not been named, the police are asking anyone who may have witnessed the incident or has information to call George Town Police Station at 949-4222. Anonymous tips can be provided to the RCIPS Confidential Tip Line at 949-7777, or the website. Tips can also be submitted anonymously to Cayman Crime Stoppers website.

When others conspire to rob other people Jamaicans are ruining this island slowly but surely and turning it into the same terrible place they have come from and the truly sad part is they are using Caymanian born offspring to do it. Our police have been rendered absolutely useless and powerless by the corruption component currently employed and and in charge!

I appreciate that the owner may not want the business premises to be identified, so as to not have its trade impacted, but if we the public are not told where, how do the popo expect witnesses to come forward ? Maybe someone was in the vicinity and could offer some info, but under this secrecy, no one is able to come forward and therefore the crimes will continue.

and i bet the bike had no lights.
if the police farce enforced basic laws regarding bikes they would rid the streets of 50% of the scumbags and also improve road safety….
but anyway…it’s just another day in wonderland…..

I wonder if there is any particular imported culture that has grown in that area over the past couple of decades that would have such a negative impact. 🙄
