Cayman News Service(CNS): Police have begun an investigation into how a little girl, who was approaching her second birthday, drowned on Friday evening off the coast of East End. The toddler, who was reported missing around 6pm yesterday, was found along the shoreline by a family member before the police arrived. She was taken to hospital in an ambulance but was pronounced dead on arrival. Police said they had responded to the missing person report at an address on Austin Connolly Drive and it is understood the local family are East End residents.

This tragic incident is the second water related death less than one week into the New Year. On Thursday afternoon a visitor from the United States drowned during a snorkelling trip off Seven Mile Beach.

      My condolences to the family.

For the future, I just read a story somewhere about another incident of a child drowning in the US, and the advice was that if there is water anywhere in the vicinity that that be the first place to check for a missing child.

This is extremely sad for this family and my heart goes out to them, especially to the parents.

Agreed. Faith in these times is challenging but solace can be found in accepting this part of our loving God’s will for us all.

Rubbish. Gods will isn’t for a toddler to drown. Don’t believe in religion and you’ll be a better person.

I think you mean ‘ My Loving God ‘ . Don’t assume all of us bash a bible on Sunday.

Truly sorrowful. I don’t want to hear political diatribes. It’s no political pundit’s fault. It’s a hurtful thing. Prayers for the little girl; I hope they make a difference.
