Cayman News Service(CNS): Following a postmortem examination of a 22-month-old child, which confirmed that she drowned in a tragic incident in East End earlier this month, the police said there were no suspicious circumstances at this time but noted that the investigation into this matter has not yet concluded. On the evening of Friday, 4 January, police went to a home off Austin Connolly Drive in response to a report of a missing young child.

Shortly after they arrived, police officers were informed that the child had been found by a family member in the water along the shoreline. She was conveyed by ambulance to the George Town hospital, where she was pronounced dead.

Detectives are appealing to anyone who may have seen anything that evening that may assist in this investigation to contact either Inspector Kevin Ashworth, Head of the Family Support Unit, at Kevin.Ashworth@rcips.ky or the George Town Police Station at 949-4222.

Anonymous tips can be submitted directly to police or through Crime Stoppers at 800-8477 or online.
