(CNS): A 22-year-old man from West Bay was expected in court Tuesday to face charges in relation to allegations he fired a gun during a fight in the district last Wednesday night. The man has not been charged with either possession of an unlicensed firearm or an imitation firearm with intent but with two counts of causing intentional harassment, alarm or distress. A police press report stated that officers were dispatched to a report of a gun being fired in Duxies Lane at about 10:45pm on 9 November.

On arriving they learned that a man who was involved in a fight among a group of people who knew each other at the location had received a cut on his hand. Afterwards, he allegedly fired a weapon into the air at the front of the property. The police said the man was later arrested at the hospital and has been in police custody since his arrest.

There was no indication from the RCIPS whether or not the gun had been recovered, what type of weapon was fired or if the suspect has a firearm’s licence.
