Woman killed by dump truck

Cayman News Service(CNS) Updated Wednesday: Police have now named the female pedestrian who died following a single vehicle accident in East End yesterday at around 5:00pm. Esther Scott (66) was killed on her own property just after a delivery had been made to her home by a Sterling dump truck. Police said she appears to have been struck by the truck as it was leaving. The 43-year-old man from North Side who was driving the truck was arrested Tuesday on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving and is currently on police bail.

Police said that 911 received a call about the incident at 5:03pm on Tuesday, 19 April, and police and other emergency services responded. The accident happened near the intersection of John McLean Drive and Quantum Drive. The victim was taken by ambulance to the George Town hospital, where she was pronounced dead.

The police are now investigating the incident and are asking witnesses or anyone with information on this matter to call the Traffic Management Unit on 946-6254. Anonymous tips can be provided via the Miami-based call centre of CrimeStoppers at 800-8477(TIPS).
