Car crash at shopping plaza raises eyebrows
(CNS): Updated: A car smash at a West Bay Road shopping mall had many people scratching their heads on Tuesday evening over how it could have happened. Police confirmed Wednesday that the car was being driven by a 78-year-old female tourist. Pictures of the aftermath of the crash appear to indicate that the woman drove the car over the curb and tried to turn around on the patio area of a shop in Cayman Falls.
Despite smashing the Kia Rio into two of the pillars and ploughing through the patio tables outside Peachwave Frozen Yogurt, it appears that the driver and her two passengers were uninjured and no one else was seriously hurt in the bizarre collision.
The crash, which drew quite a crowd, happened at around 6:19pm on 24 February police said. The car involved in the incident was a rental car and police have confirmed the driver was a visitor to the Cayman Islands
