(CNS): A visitor from the United States is the latest person to die on vacation in the Cayman Islands. The 63-year-old man who was snorkelling in the ocean near Morritt’s Beach in East End yesterday, got into difficulty breathing when he was in the ocean at around three-thirty in the afternoon. The emergency services were called to the location and the man received medical attention at the scene but he was pronounced dead when he arrived at the George Town hospital just before 5pm. Police said the Joint Marine Unit is investigating the incident.

The man is the third visitor reported to have died while on holiday this month after an 80-year-old woman died at the airport on 4 January and an 88-year-old cruise passenger died on Monday. A Cuban national also drowned in local waters on 3 January after the boat he and three other migrants were travelling capsized in the South Sound, near Sand Quay
