Two-wheel riders take brunt of collisions

(CNS): A 56-year-old man from George Town was airlifted to a hospital in Miami on Wednesday after being knocked off his motorbike on the Easterly Tibbetts Highway near the junction with Raleigh Quay on Tuesday. Meanwhile, a woman is currently in the George Town hospital recovering for injuries she sustained Thursday lunchtime when she was knocked off her bicycle by a taxi.

Police are now investigating both incidents, in which the two-wheel riders were hurt in the crashes with cars.

The motorbike rider is believed to be in a stable condition in the US hospital after receiving treatment for his injuries, and uniformed officers from the West Bay Police Station are carrying out an investigation surrounding the circumstances of the crash.

The female cyclist, who is said to be in a stable condition, was hit at around 1:15 pm Thursday on the West Bay Road near the Esso Gas Station. Officers from George Town police station are investigating the incident.
