Silver-grey car spotted at murder scene
(CNS): Detectives working on the latest West Bay murder are asking people who saw a silver or grey Hyundai Accent car that they did not recognise in the neighbourhood on Friday 23 January to come forward. The police are trying to piece together the events surrounding the killing of 20-year-old David Reuben Ebanks, a resident of the district, who was shot dead just after 11pm on Friday night while he was standing outside a popular take-out restaurant on Birch Tree Hill.
“This is the second senseless killing in West Bay this month,” said Chief Inspector Malcolm Kay, who recently lamented the failure of witnesses to come forward in connection the fatal shooting of Victor Yates outside Super C’s on 3 January.
“I would like to appeal to anyone who may have witnessed the shooting who has not been contacted by the police to come forward. We are interested in speaking with anyone who may have seen a four-door silver or grey Hyundai Accent motor vehicle in the West Bay area any time before the shooting that day. This vehicle may have been unusual to the area; its driver was seen driving slowly and erratically in the area before the shooting. Any information, however small, you may think it is could be vitally important to us in solving this murder,” the senior officer urged.
Anyone who may have witnessed the shooting or who may have information that could assist the detectives with their investigation is asked to contact West Bay CID at 649-3990, the RCIPS tip-line 949-7777 or Crime Stoppers on 800-8477(TIPS).
