(CNS): A West Bay man was admitted to hospital last night following a second shooting in the district in a matter of days. Police said the incident occurred close to the liquor store ‘Top a Top’ on Powell Smith Drive on Monday evening at around 9:15pm. The man received several gunshot wounds and was rushed to the hospital by emergency services.

The shooting comes in the wake of the murder of Victor Oliver Yates on Saturday morning, 3 January. Police have not yet confirmed any motive for the latest spate of district violence but it appears to be gang related.

Police have made no further comment yet regarding Sunday’s killing and stated that an investigation has now commenced into this latest shooting. They have appealed to anyone who was in the area at the time and witnessed the incident to contact the West Bay Police Station at 949 3999, or to remain anonymous contact CrimeStoppers on 800-8477 (TIPS).

    Disgraceful

  2. Just my humble opinion says:

The senseless, cold hearted killing of Victor Oliver Yates, was not gang related. The men that did this killed someone innocent and now there are repercussion from this. No one want any of this at all. But how you live will surely speak when its your turn. Knowing the family and Victor; the type of person he was and his demeanor; has caused a lot of pain and anger. Which has now started something that no one wants

Because ordinary, law abiding people have access to firearms and are prepared to use them for revenge rather than telling the police who the first shooters were, right.

Clearly someone wants it, because it is happening. Regardless of whether it was gang related or not, it doesn’t help that no one seems to want to cooperate with police, and CONVENIENTLY, no one saw the shooter. I bet my left arm there are people that were there that night that know who did it and why, and will not say a thing.
