Second death on Brac road

(CNS) Update Saturday 8pm: Police have now named the victim of the second road fatality on Cayman Brac this year. Raoul Muhammed Scott, a 19-year-old resident of the island, died as a result of a crash that happened at about 11.15pm on Friday 9 January in the vicinity of Dennis Foster Road and Ocean Villa Road, Stake Bay. The fatal collision comes one week after the death of Jose Abel Zelaya (49) late last Friday night, 2 January, on the Bluff.

According to a police update, Scott was driving a red Honda Civic, registration number Q3929, along Dennis Foster Road heading East when he was involved in a collision with a white Honda Civic, registration number 159-370, travelling in the same direction driven by a 22-year-old man near to the junction with Ocean Villa Road. Scott was taken to Faith Hospital, but died shortly afterwards.

The driver and a 19-year-old male passenger of the white Honda Civic were also transported to the Faith Hospital, where they were treated for injuries and later discharged. Both vehicles received extensive damage.

Police investigations are ongoing into the circumstances of the collision. Anyone who may have witnessed the accident or was in the area at the time or has any information is asked to contact the Cayman Brac Police Station on 948 0331.
