Mac pushes hard for Bryan in GTC

| 22/05/2017

(CNS Election): The opposition and Cayman Democratic Party leader published a political video on Monday urging people to vote for independent candidate Kenneth Bryan. McKeeva Bush had already declared his support for Bryan, one of Dr Steve Tomlinson’s stable of candidates who is in a head-to-head fight with Finance Minister Marco Archer in George Town Central, but on Monday he produced a video asking his own supporters to vote for the independent candidate.

Bush said that Bryan could represent George Town Central and the Cayman Islands. He said he liked what Bryan had to offer because he “cares for people and knows what it is to need”, as he asked people to give him the opportunity.

“If you support me, give Kenneth Bryan your vote,” he said in the video, in which he not only offers his emphatic support but urges his followers to vote for the non-CDP member. Bush is not running candidates in eight seats, and although he has offered vague endorsements to others, his support for Bryan goes much further.

Defeating Archer would be a huge political scalp for Bryan, a former PPM member and political assistant to Premier Alden McLaughlin. It now appears that the CDP may be hoping that he will be a part of a CDP government or CDP-led coalition if he wins what many believe is a very tight race.

Bryan was sacked by McLaughlin in the wake of his arrest for assaulting police in the well documented incident outside a West Bay Road Club in October 2014.

In the run up to the election, it was believed that Bryan would be up against his former boss, McLaughlin, but in a surprise move on Nomination Day, Archer announced his candidacy for the GTC seat.

McLaughlin has said that, given the personal history between himself and Bryan, it was not a good idea for the two of them to face off in an election. But it remains unclear why the PPM chose to risk sacrificing arguably their most popular and successful minister in such a tight race instead of putting forward another contender.

With no accurate independent polls, it is still impossible to predict the outcome of that race, especially after the commitment Bryan has been able to give to the fight, having started his campaign in the constituency more than a year ago.

6:23. No worries. He apologized to Javi on Rooster so that is fine with me. Marco for Premier!!!

  2. Anonymous says:

Kenneth could never run on his own without the backing of some big wigs.

  3. Make Cayman Better says:

Say what you want about Mac but he is approachable and he will listen to your concerns and help you selflessly is he sees it necessary. Last government had primary schools running out of toilet paper and book paper. Mac took it upon himself to have a shipment delivered to the schools out of his OWN POCKET and didn’t put it on the front page of the newspaper for bragging rights. Think about that when you cast your vote!

    • Anonymous says:

Instead of paying out of his own pocket he should have stolen the nice soft stuff from the Vegas hotels and used the government credit card to pay for shipping!

    • Anonymous says:

For your information he took it out of that second pension he’s been collecting for donkey face.. er..years.

Lets lighten up. I know everybody is uptight about the election. I am going to put a smile on all of your faces. I got up this morning and checked my Crystal Ball. To my surprise I saw Kenneth staring back at me looking very anxious and Marco confidently smiling back. Marco won with 5 extra votes. That was good with me. Therefore, Marco is in.
The rest started to pop up, first it was Mac and all his followers with the exception of Pearlina and Robert. Actually she was not in my Crystal Ball and neither was Robert. I saw Moses, Chris Saunders, Maxine, Rudolph, Austin, Roy, Alva, Justin, Issac and Anthony. I tried to find others but they were not there. I wanted to smash the Crystal Ball to find Alden but I decided to wait until mid night tomorrow to see if others will appear. I wish all of you the best of luck. I only have one vote and that goes to Marco. Keep up the good work Marco.

Here is the million dollar question. If Kenneth loses tomorrow, will he finally get a job? And, what kind of job will that be?

  6. Anonymous says:

I was supporting Kenneth all the way because of the arrogance of Marco, but if his loyalty is to Mac then I have to switch to Marco. Glad I saw this before voting tomorrow, this is always the problem with independents you don’t know who or what they will support.

    • Anonymous says:

How can anyone regard Marco as arrogant?

    • LiNwood says:

Arrogance ? I would say more like “forthright” and ready to get on with our islands many issues ie no time for BS!
Your comment is superceded in that out of ALL candidates Marco is the most consistent in his personal & professional life which we all can admit is very hard to maintain. Over the years we have influenced our families to vote selfishly and without even looking at a candidates history /agenda and how it greatly impacts them and their kids down the line w/out even a thought of of the grave effects we Have/can face if we are not careful. Many don’t realise that if we are not careful we can fall faster than we have risen. Especially young Caymanians wake up and stop being followers do what you feel and know will shape YOU AND YOUR FAMILIES FUTURE.
With HONESTY, AMBITION AND THE LOVE FOR YOUR ISLAND WE PROUDLY VOTE YOU AS PREMIER!!

Please do not vote for another 4 years of slush funds for imaginary scholarships, casino gambling, excessive traveling with huge entourage etc etc. Even the dumbest voter needs to realize that eventually that money will be done. Then what?!?!?

We just got out of a huge hole – don’t put us back in! We need Marco Archer to continue and take care of the Government’s finances.

  9. Anonymous says:

Clearly you all ain’t seeing the bigger picture here. This election will see a coalition government for sure. PPM will not be the next government nor will CDP look at past elections for reference (and I mean more than 12-16 years ago) If Marco Archer is voted in he will not be the next Minister of Finance, but will in fact be a back bencher for the next 4 years, then what? I am not CDP or PPM supporter but I am seeing the BIGGER picture. Mark my words come tomorrow night there will be coalition govt formed. Independents do not give in to the PPM or Cdp to form THEIR government. CAYMAN stand strong our lives are in our own hands tomorrow.

You seem to be drinking Dr. T’s cool aide. Go jump in the ocean and shake it off.

      • Anonymous says:

Really. KoolAide? You could have come up with a better response than that. Clearly shows the ignorance of our people. And who say I voting for dr. T independents anyway!!!

I was one of those that voted for a udp govt 8 years ago then Ppm govt 4 years ago (I was the ignorant one then). Neither party has proven to me that they can take this country forward for the next 40 years. Parties are loyal to parties, independents are loyal to the people. Check the facts and the economy before party politics took over!

        • Anonymous says:

Which country have you seen run by Independents today? Independents are just another human being with their agendas. In what position are you to therefore say they are going to be loyal? Can you guarantee that to the voting population man? Just because party politics don’t work in your opinion?

        • Caymanian says:

I agree with you part way…

This will be some sort of coalition government as I really don’t see PPM seating 10 candidates but I do see them with the Majority.

          CDP will get 4
          PPM will get 8
          Ind will get 7

That’s where the horse trading begins. PPM will need 2 Ind to jump ship and join them while CDP will need 6 of 7 Ind to jump.

Each party will promise Ministerial seats. Where it gets interesting is if the Ind can truly band together and stay that way to pressure PPM.

What you won’t see is a TRUE Coalition government led by Independents. It will either be PPM or CDP and more than likely PPM because most hate CDP more than PPM because of transparency and overall good governance.

I really don’t think even Dr. T think’s he has a hope in hell. Of his maybe 1 gets in. Maybe 1.

Let’s clear up your crap however. 90% of Independents are ACTUALLY NOT INDEPENDENT. And as for loyalty they are loyal to the paychecks the are after NOT THE PEOPLE.

You need to listen less to the rhetoric and read the tea leafs. Look at their history.

          • Anonymous says:

There are independents that are self funded in this race so don’t make the people believe that all of them are in for the money.

          • Anonymous says:

BOTH of you are dead wrong. PPM will make as clean a sweep as this country has ever seen. And rightly and justifiably so.

            • Anonymous says:

What you saying now… I was right. The country has spoken. We want change.

  10. Anonymous says:

Endorsements by Dr T. and Bush should be the kiss of death.

    • Anonymous says:

Please remember voters of GTS Mike Adams also = McKeeva. Please vote smart people .

      • Caymanian says:

The thing is Mike is and always be a head scratcher. Why he chose to throw his hat with CDP is beyond me. He is genuinely a nice guy. And because everyone loves him he will win a seat.

  11. Anonymous says:

This endorsement in order to get himself elected as the next Premier by McKeeva Bush is likely to do more harm than good.

If Kenneth get elected I do hope he has the common sense to stick with the independents and form an independent government.

    • Anonymous says:

Don’t you see this has always been Kenneths plan?

    • S. Connolly says:

First of all McKeeva Bush has no chance to ever be Premier, you guys need to understand that. CDP will most likely win only 5 out of 11 seats, that’s roughly 2500 people who would like to see McKeeva as the next Premier, that’s 12% of the entire voting population, therefore – Premier is least likely to occur. So can everyone please stop with this rhetoric. The Independents will have majority, they may need a couple from CDP or PPM but when all is said and done they will form an INDEPENDENT Government. With that being said, the caliber of Independents that are likely to get in, will no way choose to go against the other 88% of voters who did not choose to have Big Mac to be Premier.

      • Anonymous says:

You have no idea what you’re talking about.

      • Caymanian says:

I still don’t see Ind winning majority. I see them right below PPM in numbers. Keep in mind Tara is for all intense purposes PPM so you need to count her accordingly.

I see a 8/7/4 Split. Any additions to PPM or CDP is taken away from Ind.

  12. Anonymous says:

Hey Mac, any idea why every time you open your mouth your foot goes straight in?

  13. Anonymous says:

Anyone remember who was the Finance Minister that got Cayman into so much problems that the FCO had to step in. That’s right McKeeva Bush. Who is helping Kenneth in an effort to get rid of Marco, the current Finance Minister..McKeeva Bush. Why? So that Mac can use Kenneth to make McKeeva Minister of Finance once more.I am beginning to suspect that Dr T and Big Mac are in cahoots to form the next Government. Why is it that Ezzard and Arden are not endorsed by Dr T? Could it be because those two have stated in the past that they do not want to be part of a Government led by McKeeva? Kenneth and Big Mac were real close during his trial but now he claims to be independent; not really just a undercover CDP. Do not let Mac get aback in charge of our Finances, Do not help Kenneth put McKeeva back in Finance Ministry. Vote against Kenneth and Mac.

  14. Anonymous says:

Oh here we go! The picture is becoming much more clear. As we all suspected, Kenneth is far from independent. He’s aligned himself with the most XXXXX government official the Caribbean has ever seen. Showing his true colours, he is just another dirty politician.

  15. Anonymous says:

What all of you failed to understand is that mckeeva said he supports Kenneth but Kenneth did Not say that he acccepted his offer.looks like mckeeva is the desperate one here. I do inot have anything against Marco but please stop putting the blame on Kenneth. Not his fault if mckeeva likes him. That is better than having him hate him don’t you think. Ppm is also very desperate because you know beyond a doubt that all the comments against Kenneth comes directly from their camp. Grasping at a straw but all of the bad talk will be for nothing.

    • Caymanian says:

Here is something you should understand. A candidate has the right to decline the support of someone they themselves do not align with.

So, by virtue of no denial he has accepted. He is CDP bought and paid for.

      • Anonymous says:

You have no authority to speak on Kenneth’s behalf. Both the present and past Premier might be left out in the cold – ever thought of that possibility.

        • Caymanian says:

Not saying I am. I am saying if he did not want Mac behind him he should have simply said it. It’s brazenly obvious to me and others that he does that is why he has said nothing about it.

  16. Anonymous says:

Hey Mac, that’s Dr. T’s protege and hard work. How dare you get on the man’s turf? I sense Dr. T is rubbing his hands in glee as he calculates that if CDP wins then it will be an opportunity to get his Bio Medical Research, pharmaceutical manufacturing and what-u-ma-call it stimulation projects on the way to fatten his pocket because he knows no way that his Vote Independents government pipe dream will not happen. Dr. T is trying to be de controlla!!

  17. Anonymous says:

Yeah he wants to be minster of finance so he can get his hands on our credit cards. Not today Mac Mac. No credit card for you !!!

  18. Anonymous says:

All voters should treat all independents as UDP! Believe that. Do not take any chances.

  19. Anonymous says:

Please GTC.. vote in Mr Archer. We don’t need a man who has served jail time in our Legislative Assembly! Kenneth would do well to run a district council but this is the LAST thing we need leading our country and representing us to the world.

  20. Anonymous says:

This hurts Kenneth. He was already under a lot of scrutiny for the huge amount of money received from Dr Tomlinson. Now McKeeva is on his side. Sounding like the dark side now folks. Keep this filth out and keep in a knowledgeable and honest man in. Archer ticks all the right boxes.

    • Anonymous says:

Not the man who wants Ganga to be legal and calls himself a Christian. Kenneth cares and understands the needs of his people.

      • Anonymous says:

Decriminalise is very different from legalise. Do a bit of research.

    • Anonymous says:

That’s the nail in Kenneth’s coffin! Thank you for exposing the wolf in sheep clothing Keke!

    • Anonymous says:

It also shows MacKeeva’s shameless disregard for what is best for the country, as opposed to what is best for Mac.
      No surprise there.

  21. Anonymous says:

Well, I was thinking about voting for Kenneth. But I had my suspicions he was closet UDP, and This confirms it. I’m going with my gut on this one, Archer deserves to stay out finance minister.

    • Anonymous says:

      Minister of drugs.

      • Ignorance is bliss...no dangerous! says:

Did you actually listen to why Minister Archer said consideration would be given to Decriminalize ganga? It was in an effort to help those Caymanians that had police records for a minor offense of possession. It falls in part with the “Spent Law” to remove convictions clearing your police record. There is serious harm in being ignorant and this election process has surely shown that Caymanians do not educate themselves, but go by hear say. Anyone thinking of putting in Kenneth over Marco whether he is aligned with the CDP is seriously mis-informed and should take the time to educate themselves on what the real issues are.

  22. Anonymous says:

This endorsement is the nail I the coffin for Kenneth. It shows he is backed by all the wrong people.

    • Anonymous says:

One of the wrong people is himself owned by seriously wrong people who will want pay back at our expense.

  23. Anonymous says:

Everyone needs to come out and vote Marco Archer on Wednesday. We cannot afford to get this one wrong, Cayman will suffer if Kenneth, funded majorly the last year by Dr Tomlinson, who has an agenda to make himself richer at everyone else’s expense.

Kenneth brings nothing to the table.

    • Anonymous says:

Anyone who will stoop so low as to suggest that he would consider making drugs legal does not deserve my vote.

  24. Unison says:

Kenneth might get in because the GTC district has alot of low-income folks feeling the economic pinch. They consist of areas like Scranton and along the Sheddon Road. Kenneth may do well in those areas. Marco, may do good in the Crewe Road area. But at the rate Kenneth is going, getting PARTY SUPPORT and showing himself as the guy for the little man, I think he might just beat the ex-Minister of Finance!

    :/

  25. Anonymous says:

Mac reporting his credit card expenses to Kenneth is good governance

  26. Anonymous says:

Who will Kenneth bow down to now, Dr Tomlinson or McKeeva. And he calls himself independent. Now we see his true colors!!! Marco is the best thing that has happened to Cayman. Has us in such a great place financially. Regardless of your party affiliation he is the best option of all candidates for any district.
