(CNS): The Official Register of Electors has been released with a record number of people eligible to cast a ballot in the 2025 General Election and Referendum on Wednesday, 30 April. There are 25,643 voters on the final list, 2,034 more than in 2021, when there were 23,609. The review over the last few weeks has resulted in a few changes.

Bodden Town West is now the constituency with the most voters (1,774), having increased by 30 since the Revised List published on 29 January. On that list, West Bay South had the most voters. It has since increased by one and now has 1,773, just one less than BTW.

Bodden Town East, which had the most voters in 2021 (1,664), has grown by almost 100 voters over the last four years but is now the third-largest constituency in terms of voter numbers (1,760). Cayman Brac East still has the fewest voters and has lost two voters since 29 January, now standing at 521, but it still has 44 more voters than in 2021.

“We are thrilled to see such a remarkable increase in the number of registered electors. We are working hard to ensure that every eligible voter has the information and resources they need to cast their ballot confidently,” said Elections Supervisor Wesley Howell. “We encourage voters to plan ahead, be informed, and use the available voting options to ensure their voices are heard.”

Officials said the growing electorate reflected the continued commitment to civic participation and that the Elections Office is dedicated to ensuring every eligible voter is ready to have their say in the electoral processes.

All eligible voters are encouraged to collect their voter ID cards as soon as possible. Those who registered by the 15 January 2025 deadline, changed their name or moved to a different electoral district must ensure they have an updated voter ID card.

A voter ID or another form of photo identification will be required to participate in the electoral process.

The deadline to apply for mobile and postal voting is Thursday, 17 April. These options are available for voters who may be travelling outside the Cayman Islands and are therefore unable to attend a polling station on Election and Referendum Day or who require alternative voting arrangements.

The Elections Office is committed to ensuring that every eligible voter, including those with mobility challenges or other accessibility needs, can participate in the election.

Voters who may have difficulty reaching a polling station are encouraged to apply for mobile voting before the deadline to ensure they can cast their ballot with ease.  If voters are unable to mark their ballot personally, they can be assisted once they instruct the Presiding Officer on how the ballot should be marked on their behalf.

Would be more but people don’t want to do jury duty & I don’t blame them. The court system is a mess & jurors are usually mentally exhausted & fall far behind on their own personal matters by the end of it.

If I send in my postal vote but die before April 30, does it count?
