Over 2,200 voters visit polls in first hour

(CNS Election): The opening of the polls for the General Election saw a surge of voters arrive Wednesday morning, with 2,228 people voting in the first hour across the country. With 733 postal votes already in, 592 mobile votes cast last week and 160 people voting between 8am and 9am, 3,713 people have already voted. With eight hours to go until the polls close, 18% of people had taken part after theĀ first two hours. The Elections Office will be updating the polling returns on an hourly basis on its statistics webpage here.

    Congratulations and hats off to the organizers and workers at the polling stations. Flawless well organized and courteous all the way.
    So proud of our Island that has managed to keep away from the. Caribbean banana republic confusion that surrounds us.

      I just voted in West Bay and must congratulate the organizers. It went very smoothly indeed and the people pleasant and efficient. In and out in less than five months mutes. I also found that to be the same four years ago.
      Conversely a colleague of mine in the TCI stood in the midday sun at their elections for in excess of three hours.
