Booze stores and bars closed on Election Day
(CNS Election): In the hopes that voters will make sober decisions on General Election Day, liquor stores and bars throughout Cayman will be closed between 7am and 7pm on Wednesday, 24 May. Officials from the Department of Commerce and Investment reminded all liquor licence holders that section 91 of the Election Law (2013) prohibits the sale of intoxicating liquor at any premises in any electoral district in which an election is being held until one hour after the polls close.
“Once licenced premises are able to reopen, they are to adhere to the usual closing hours and procedures set out on their liquor licences,” said DCI Director Ryan Rajkumarsingh. Business owners who contravene the law are liable, on summary conviction before a magistrate, to a fine of $500 or to imprisonment for six months.

Only in Cayman would they close bars on a day that people are most likely to be driven to drink.
LOL, great comment!
One safe election prediction – the liquor stores are going to do good business today.
