Crash victim Kate Clayton

(CNS): A 30-year-old female resident of East End is understood to be in a coma in the George Town hospital after breaking her neck and pelvis in a major car crash earlier this month. The British woman is understood to have lost control of the Jeep Wrangler she was driving on Old Robin Road at around 10pm on the night of 11 January. The car veered off the road and collided with large trees, police stated, and the woman had to be cut from the car by emergency personnel.

According to the UK media, the woman is Kate Clayton from Southampton, who moved to Cayman in 2013 to work as a divemaster, having left her job with the UK broadcasting firm, Sky Television. Clayton had been at Over the Edge in North Side and was driving home to East End when the crash happened.

The cause of the accident is under investigation by officers from the Bodden Town Police Station and anyone with information is asked to call Police Constable Gilzeane at 649-2220.
