(CNS): At 12:45am on 1 January Mark and Sheena Thompson and their 9-year old son, Jayden Thompson, welcomed three new additions to their family. Triplets Alexa, Jenna and Emma who weighed 3lbs. 12ozs, 3lbs. 7ozs, and 3lbs 2ozs, respectively arrived after 32 weeks of pregnancy. Although the Thompsons had hoped their little girls would be born in the Cayman Islands, with a shortage of available incubators the decision was made for the Thompson family to be sent to Miami for the births to take place at South Miami Hospital’s Center for Women & Infants. According to family sources, all are doing well.

The triplets join a very large family, with many members on Grand Cayman and in Cayman Brac. Mark Thompson is an entrepreneur and Sheena Thompson is the Regional Head in Operational Risk Caribbean, RBC Wealth Management, at Royal Bank of Canada.

Sheena’s mother is Janet Macmillan, Administration, Human Resources and Freedom of Information Manager at the MRCU, who was recently awarded as one of the longest-serving Cayman Islands civil servants after 48 years of service to the MRCU. Sheena’s father, John Macmillan, is the Administrator at Elmslie Church.

Congrats to the Thompsons! As fellow parents of Caymanian triplets we know what a wild ride it can be to carry & raise multiples. I pray for a speedy recovery for Mummy, and hope that all of you will be on your way home soon. Good luck with everything. Raising triplets has it’s share of challenges, but by far the great moments & memories exceed any possible challenge you may come across! 🙂
