New Year Message from McKeeva Bush, Leader of the Opposition, 9 January 2016

In the Premier’s message he refers to his government bringing back investor confidence – Now you hear about – ‘talking to hear yourself talk” – that’s what his statement amount to.

Because in one breath he references the Kimpton Hotel – and Darts other developments such as the Road expansion to the Butterfield Roundabout.  Well what kind of confidence took place for other investors, that this country is presently seeing any benefit brought from except Dart? Wasn’t Dart here developing – The Kipton was signed sealed – and on the way.  The road was agreed upon – in the various agreements signed by my government in 2010 – 2012.

So what exactly Mr. Premier are you muttering about – and what is the confidence that you ushered in? Every Cat and Dog – know what you did, marches, disruptions, accusations about the developers. All done so you could get where you are today – The Premiers Post. Where is our people better off? Do you mean the work-permits that increased under your management while Caymanians are starving because of no work? Is that the confidence? Or the many mortgages that have failed and houses lost? Is that the confidence – or is it the tremendously high crimes committed here since 2013.

Or is the confidence the many black list by the OECD and Europe – which this government has managed to get us on again, is that the confidence? I took us off the one you left us on in 2009. I guess I will have to clean up the mess again!!!

Is the confidence the many abuses of the legal processes in this country? Is the confidence, the loss of millions of dollars of hard-drugs – cocaine etc. from right under the police noses at the police station?

But pray, do tell us, what were your plans, what are your accomplishments from those plans?

In regards to rebuilding relationships with the U.K. I guess – if I had agreed to all the things that the UK wanted me to do which the Premier is now doing, I would not have had the false charges on me. Calamities such as Same-Sex unions and other so-called Human Rights which make us no better off.  Beneficial Ownerships and the many changes to Financial Regulations which puts us at a disadvantage and our competitors, better off. Or is the confidence the top Civil Service Jobs for which Caymanians are being overlooked?

Ok, I took the licks you, Taylor and others dished-out. But I am Patriot. This is my country. There are things that Patriots have to suffer – in order for freedom to be achieved at some point. If standing up to the FCO means that is bad for good relations, they can keep it. Perhaps the Premier and Kurt Tibbetts will get the Knighthood they seek. I will remain the Patriot!!

Mr. Premier – you haven’t done anything; but to utilize the money from good projects that I left. You didn’t raise revenue. So you can’t claim that you made the money that now assists National Development. In 2009 – you left the country with over $80 million in deficit – you had borrowed over = $400 million dollars – peoples pensions lost over $200 million from 2005 – 2009. Expenses were committed to for projects  – for well over $300 million with no funds. The O.E.C.D had us on their black list. So you really think that you left these islands in good standing in 2009?

This country today is beset with huge problems. The government doesn’t know how to deal with them. Keeping a few of the PPM supporters happy by making them get businesses here and there which is not tendered properly, or that is set up so easily to by-pass the governors scrutiny, or the C.T.C. – is not solving National development issues for the future. I left the country with a budget agreed with the UK and a surplus of over $60 million dollars – a turnaround of $140 million dollars. Laws were passed to create more revenue. As to your idea of things being better – again I say – is the story of the emperor’s new clothes!

Family issues are causing Social decay which will not be solved by Tammy Chisholm’s “spin” of the issues. Social Services – are not now effective with policies which are only concerned with giving a few dollars. People must stand in line from 4:00 am to deal with Social issues for which a few hundred dollars are given.

Huge conglomerates – easily play the role of “taking and taking” while their employee’s fortunes seem dim. Because benefits that should be paid are not. Is all that termed Progressive or is it Regressive?

Mr. Premier – you’re right!! No one, especially me – wants to go back to the year 2012 – 2013. Taylor came here to damage the country. He found help from people who couldn’t beat me at the polls. Taylor was bitter because I knew the Shenanigans of his son –and I wouldn’t agree to ask about abortion.

Premier, you did much to damage me, I know though, that strong self-governance is for those that dare to lead the country. I don’t think that anybody conscious of the movements of history of the FCO and Territories can do anything but regret – those years. One lesson, is that we can accept and extract the maximum good from the experience.

Those are years that I put in place some development options of the growth we now should be enjoying – and the strengthening of a vital spirit of pride and nation-hood in our country. Out of the depths of hurt which you helped to inflict – Caymanians are more aware – and I think infinitely stronger, with a mind-set, that people like you – must be voted out legally – as was done in 2009. Elections should be about upholding our democratic principles, not the “sham” that began with ousting me as the countries democratically elected Premier, who had formed a government without coalition at that time, because people trusted me and know I was a worker who knew the value of business, to the country and would try to take care of everyone.

What can be said is that a democratically elected Premier was ousted with “Sham” charges and lies!!!

No – we don’t want to go back to 2012 – 2013, but neither  do we want to continue down this rotten road where you as the leader do not have a plan nor answers to our problems and where our people continue to be poor and yet poorer!!
