Ban on booze sale will be enforced on Election Day

(CNS): With the goal of supporting the orderly conduct of elections and ensuring a safe and fair voting environment for all electors, the legal ban on alcohol sales while the polls are open will be enforced on Election Day, Wednesday, 30 April. The Elections Office is reminding all licensed liquor establishments of their legal obligations under the Elections Act during the upcoming General Election and Referendum.
Section 91 of the Elections Act states: “No intoxicating liquor shall be sold, offered for sale or given away at any premises situated in any electoral district in which an election is being held, to which a licence issued under the Liquor Licensing Act (2019 Revision) applies, at any time between the opening of the poll and one hour after the close of the poll.”
Polling stations will be open from 7:00am to 6:00pm, so the restriction on the sale, offering or distribution of intoxicating liquor will apply from 7:00am to 7:00pm in all districts.
Failure to comply with this legal requirement constitutes a criminal offence. Any person found in contravention of this section is liable, on summary conviction before a magistrate, to a fine of CI$500 or six months in prison. All licensed establishments are strongly encouraged to take the necessary steps to ensure full compliance.

And of course, no bars open ! 33 Fort street might get quite interesting to see !!! I would pack the hydro alcoholic gel out of reach for some ! I would also steer away from some establishments, the dump bar , The place that ever glows by the brilliance of its patrons as to their capacity to launch into space, courtesy of the nearby roundabouts …
They could easily have avoided this by having Election Day on Good Friday.
Good Lord, what is the big deal? ONE day you can’t buy booze. If your need is so great, you can buy booze the day before. What is with all the whining??
Hope Ellio buys his booze early because he is going to need a few drinks to wash down the loss
I getting drunk irregardless!
I think you’re already there.
I hope that the authorities enforcing that rule does a better job than those that are supposed to be enforcing the political sign size an position. PPM erected 192 sq. foot signs. Sterling placed one within 10 feet of a T-junction. Other persons have them within 2 feet of the road side.
Nothing said or done by NRA or Planning. So why should I pay attention to speed limits, yellow lines, etc. It seems like our laws are merely suggestions.
But we can name our public hospital after a bigot.
Oh land of double standards, hypocrisy everywhere, whenever my thoughts fly godward I always think of JuJu.
You’d need to be drunk to vote for most of these asshats.
But i can set up a chair, bring a cooler, and drink from it all day long outside the polling station? Makes sense. Up there with banning dancing at midnight.
Which polling station we meeting at? WBW?
