(CNS): CNS readers think that there is a catalogue of issues that the government has ignored, but in a straw poll on five of them, the beach higglers, once unheard of in the Cayman Islands, have got under people’s skin the most, followed by the lack of ride-sharing services such as Uber and Lyft. Readers could vote on one or all five issues, and 63% of those who took part said they would like to see the issue of higglers addressed.

In the unscientific, straw on line poll, 54% want to a ride-sharing service, but less than half (41.5%) thought that banning leafblowers should be on the next government’s agenda and 40% thought roundabout usage should be on the list.

And while there are sometimes calls for a cull of feral chickens, they appear to be safe as only 34% think they are a significant issue.

To join in the polling fun check out this week’s straw poll in which we call on readers to put their pundit caps on and tell us who think are the most likely candidates to win the five open seats in the forthcoming election.

The Higglers have been a disgusting addition to our once hassle free beaches.
Not being bothered on beaches and in streets is one of the attractions of Cayman , compared to our 3rd world neighbours.
Our minister of tourism has slowly chipped away at the Exclusivity of our tourism image.
Now he and his mentor Mac, want to flood our already overcrowded streets and beaches, with thousands more cheap day trippers.
Please don’t vote PPM to restore some dignity to Cayman and the services it provides.
