Poll: Predict the winners of the five open seats

(CNS): With the retirement from politics of Sir Alden McLaughlin, Barbara Conolly, David Wight, Bernie Bush and Moses Kirkconnell, there are five hotly contested open seats in the 2025 General Election: Red Bay, George Town South, George Town West, West Bay North, and Cayman Brac West & Little Cayman. Although two of the parties technically have enough candidates to win a majority, this does not appear to be likely, which means that alignments will be necessary and a coalition of some sort will emerge after the election.
While it’s impossible to predict what will happen in the post-election horsetrading, the two parties that seem most closely aligned on policy are the TCCP and the CINP, while the PPM and the UPM remnants not only appear compatible but have actual crossover candidates: Juliana O’Connor-ConnollyJuliana O'Connor-Connolly (CBE incumbent) is running with the PPM. She is the current premier and has been minister of education since May 2017. More, Kenneth Bryan
Kenneth Bryan (GTC incumbent) is deputy premier and tourism minister with the UPM while campaigning with the PPM as deputy leader of the party. More and Dwayne Seymour
Dwayne Seymour (BTE incumbent) is the Minister for Border Control, Labour, with the UPM and has joined the PPM for this election campaign. More.
If every incumbent won their election, which is possible but by no means certain, the PPM/UPM mashup, including McKeeva BushMcKeeva Bush (WBW incumbent) is the longest-serving member of parliament (the “Father of the House”), having represented West Bay continuously for three decades. More, would get nine seats, which means they would need one more for a majority.
The TCCP/CINP group would get five, all of them TCCP since the CINP candidates are all new to the game. They would need to secure all five of the open seats with a TCCP or a CINP candidate or an independent who would choose them over the PPM/UPM.
This is just one of a multitude of scenarios in an election that is very hard to predict, and where an upset in some of the constituencies is entirely possible. But whatever the results, the winners of the open seats, even those who ran with a party, will be wooed by all groupings hoping to form a government and so will play a critical part in the formation of the next government.
In the polls below, we’re inviting our readers to be pundits and asking you all to pick the winners of the open seats — not who you would like to win but who you think will actually win.
Obviously, this is an unscientific straw poll and is open to all readers, not just voters in the constituencies in question, and therefore does not necessarily reflect the outcome on 30 April.
If you’re viewing on a mobile, see the polls and vote here.

Frozen box of squid would have taken them all.
Well, for one, the CBE seat wont be going to Dan or Juilianna. The people in CBE know who they gonna put in, she been pushing and doing what she is suppossed to do. She has been doing well. She will represent and actually do for the whole CBE. Unlike DAN and Julianna she not there to get rich and famous off the backs of the people, she aint dangling a carrott in front of peoples faces.
Shs is committed to Cayman Brac. She WILL get things done and she WILL make peoples lives better.
Most of all she aint trying to fool peopke, she is honest, sincere.
Lol
Why are people confident Gary Rutty will win? Serious question, I’m a GTS voter and haven’t made up my mind.
I think only he an Alric have a shot, of course PPM supporters will vote for Craig. If your choice is between Alric and Gary I think people might lean on Gary as it is hard for an independent to get anything done and with the last four years people might be more inclined to vote for a party. My 0.02
You have got things badly wrong in your post. Why would PPM supporters vote for Craig when Craig is a National Party member?
why is Gary Rutty being referred to in your posting as an independent candidate when he too is a National Party person?
Spoken like a true Cayman Catron Party supporter.
I think most people WON’T vote for Lonny Lee with his reputation at CINICO where he was fired and over at the labour Department also. And his treatment of women . So Nickolas Dacosta will win.
He is retired successful businessman, and doesn’t need to feather his nest from politics.
He will also not be seduced by the big payday if offered a ministry by those he would not work with.
In other words , unlike the uneducated unemployables we have been ruled by, he has some integrity.
Read any of Alric Black box articles and you will see why voting for Gary is the only choice.
The Lodge and its conundrum candidates rising yet again Vote wisely Cayman If you want change you have to vote for it Cayman look around and see exactly what Status Quo has got us 38’000 work permits!
To be honest work permits are not the problem. Its all the PR and status grants they seem to automatically come with. People come here on permit expecting to get PR then Status then vote.
Cayman Islands government and the immigration department are incompetent in this regard. Those permits should never translate to PR and Status and should be granted for no more than 5 years.
_Problem Solved
How does one join and become a member of the Lodge? I keep seeing you guys talk about it a lot on this website, is it something they have to do rituals and stuff inside? What really is the Lodge, can someone please explain?
You have to ask to be invited

Membership requirements in Freemasonry have evolved over time and vary depending on the jurisdiction and the specific Masonic style or branch. However, there are certain common requirements that have remained relatively consistent throughout the history of the fraternity.
“Regular” Freemasonry[edit]
In “Regular” Freemasonry, which follows the Anglo-American style, a candidate for initiation must generally meet the following criteria:
Be a man[5]
Come of his own free will, either by his own initiative or by invitation in some jurisdictions[6]
Believe in a Supreme Being, although any specific religion is not specified and not required[6]
Be of good morals, reputation, and financially capable of supporting himself and his family[6]
Be at least 21 years old (with some jurisdictions allowing candidates as young as 18 or as old as 25)[6]
Live within the jurisdiction of the lodge (a requirement in some U.S. Grand Lodges and United Grand Lodge of England)[7]
Before petitioning, pass an initial qualification interview. Most of the time, this is done with the Master of the Lodge or another elected officer. In some areas of the world, this may also include a legal background check

After petitioning, pass a number of separate interviews and inquiries conducted by the lodge’s Investigation Committee, which may take up to two years[6]
Be of “sound mind and body” (not a universal requirement)[8][6]
Be a “Free Man,” meaning not bound by servitude or slavery[9][10]
Receive a favorable vote from the lodge members[6]
Oh please add the LOL button for this one.
“Be of good morals, reputation”-name one of the Lodge that is that.
3 of these won’t even be remotely close.
Let’s just hope PPM will not gain any of these seats.
7.59 Hope PPM wins um all.
None of these are the six seats that their current candidates will win.
Don’t vote for any PPM across all 3 islands. They had their time now it’s pass time for them to be out of Policites . Vote all PPM out.
GTW poor people seem to have no choice.
