Box of Squid trusted more than PPM to solve key issues

(CNS): In a straw poll on twelve key issues facing the next government, CNS readers showed that they thought a box of squid could do a better job at solving all of them than the PPM. Those who took part in the unscientific pre-election online poll said both the CINP and the TCCP would manage most of the issues better than frozen fish bait.
However, the TCCP also lost to the squid when it came to dealing with the dumps and waste management, and the CINP only won that poll by one percentage point. Readers also thought the frozen calamari would be able to tackle crime better than the TCCP.
The CINP topped the straw poll in eleven of the twelve of the issues. However, 40% of our readers thought that the TCCP was a better choice for finding a balance between conservation and development, beating the CINP by nine percentage.
The CINP received the highest vote of confidence for solving Cayman’s pension crisis, with 45% of those who voted saying they trusted that group over the TCCP, the squid and the PPM.
The PPM not only failed to top the poll on any of the questions, but they came last behind the squid every time. Their highest total was just 15% of the vote from those who took part in the question about tourism, though the squid still attracted nine percentage points more of the vote on that subject.
The squid’s best showing was on waste management and traffic, where almost a third of those who took part said they trusted the frozen bait to do better than any party at getting those two issues right.
While the straw poll is for entertainment purposes and not in the least bit scientific, it gives an anecdotal glimpse into the lack of confidence that our readers, who encompass a broad cross-section of Cayman society, have in the current and would-be politicians campaigning for office in the General Election on 30 April.
However, no online straw poll in the Cayman Islands can be restricted to registered voters and, therefore, is not necessarily a reflection of how the vote will go on Election Day.
Nevertheless, it appears that CNS readers at least are not buying the PPM’s message of its proven track record of stable government and fiscal responsibility, which may or may not be a result of the party teaming up with some of the UPM members and a likelihood that it will be joined by other UPM members who are successful in their run for re-election.
While the TCCP beat the squid in most areas, their candidates are also clearly being viewed with mistrust by many of our readers. Notably, half of their candidates are incumbents and may be feeling readers’ displeasure as a result of their legacy.
The strategy of the CINP to promote their lack of political experience and with it a lack of political baggage may be paying off in some quarters. However, votes on Election Day may be a very different matter, as traditionally, incumbents have an advantage.

So we can now officially call ‘Squidily Drunk, Squidily Dum, Squidily Drape….’
A box of squid stinks less than the PPM’s policies, too.
Vote out all the PPM, they had their time now is past time they need to be gone. They
just endorsed Lonny that’s the the stray that broke the camels back, vote them out. CB West/LC look at the two canadates back ground and make your choice that should not be a hard choice to make.
You can feed your family on calamari; the PPM has us sleeping in cars and struggling to get a job to buy groceries.
The PPM hasn’t been in charge for 4 years. PACT (TCCP) put Cayman into serious debt over the last 4 years so not sure how you can blame PPM.
To 7:23am: The PACT inherited the GT revitalization project, the REGen Project, the increasing employment crisis, the housing crisis, the status explosion, the Cayman Brac stagnation and a few other challenges from the PPM. You are free to delude yourself, but many of us are quite clear as to how much damage the PPM’s style of politics has done to these islands.
PACT did nothing the whole time they were in government. How many times did they hold parliament? Their inexperience cost our country a bunch of money, they then had a major relationship breakdown and bailed leaving our government in shambles and now want another turn under a different name being the TCCP.
Its sad to see the corruption occuring during this election.
The Elections Office, The RCIPS and tge Govenors Office KNOW of the corruption. They have been given HARD EVIDENCE.
But alas they too are a major part of the problem because, even with the evidence, they refuse to do anything outta eitger stupidity or laziness.
Then you got the people that will vote for the inbred idiots BUYING the votes. If someone has to BUY your vote then this should tell you everything you need to know about that individuals capabilities. They wont get anything done, other than take more from you than they give because they just either too stupid or lazy.
These are FACTS that cannot be denied.
The squid aren’t unboxed already owing us billions in redacted civil service liabilities, or unsupervised NRA waivers, and developer performance obligations. The squid haven’t been working on John Gray High School for a full generation. The squid have never been arrested. They don’t blow cocaine or drink and drive into static objects, and have the police cover their tracks. They don’t indulge in hate for days of Parliamentary time on Gaypril to the detriment of obligatory FATF legislation…and they stink less.
VOTE OUT PPM!
VOTE NO TO CRUISE BERTHING!
The squid has way more backbone and character than any of the PPM clowns. Just look at Seymour and JOCC.
I agree! vote no to first world ! No bridges, no roads, no ships, no ports, no jobs, no growth and most of all please no opportunities! Now that WE are comfortable, who cares about anyone else!
I’ll vote yes if you’re willing to take on the $450Million debt so that my children and grandchildren don’t have to repay the loan.
Vote out all PPM. Vote CINP
Bot voters again. A simple look at the turnout to their rallies tells a completely different story. Not to mention, the TCCP (PACT 2.0) left our government in complete shambles last time around.
Look at who the turn outs are…and that is who PPM depends on for blindly accepting hand outs and Jamaican style corrupt elections.
So you would have zero integrity and stick around while bad decisions were continuing to be made in YOUR name?
There is only so long that anyone with integrity can battle behind closed doors and continually be rebuffed.
Hopefully your name is not on any upcoming ballot.
Do you realize what could have happened if PPM hadn’t stepped in and helped keep the government afloat? Those people with “integrity” left our government and their people at risk to seperate themselves as much as they could in prep for the next election. Those people also brought Mckeeva Bush on board just so that Wayne could be Premier. Don’t speak about integrity.
I disagreed with you because it has been explained (repeatedly) that the only way for Ministers to actively disagree with Cabinet’s decisions is to RESIGN. In other words, as long as you stay there, you are being an accomplice to whatever Cabinet is doing wrong. In that case, resigning is best.
LOLOLOL
I think that’s because not one of the squid could be accused of
getting drunk and beating up women,
using govt credit cards for gambling,
driving government cars into stationary objects in early hours,
being sacked as a minister,
doing jail time for selling drugs,
Paving private driveways with govt equipment and money
Corrup vote buying
Wasting government funds on vanity projects
Threatening to bankrupt us with another massive loan to build cruise piers
…just a few reasons I can think of.
Goes to show that there is some wisdom in the populace.
We’ve about had it with them that’s why.
Don’t vote PPM if you don’t want a government of Kenneth Dumbdum Saunders Jujudas and Mac.
Vote PPM and that’s what we’ll suffer for another 4 years of borrowing, cruise piers, rampant immigration and ongoing destruction of everything that made Cayman a stable and civilized territory.
Kenneth as Premier would destroy Cayman.
Vote out all PPM. Vote CINP
