(CNS): Local attorney Phillip Ebanks, an ex-police officer and former civil servant, has declared his candidacy for the constituency of Red Bay, left vacant by the retirement of Sir Alden McLaughlin after more than 25 years as an MP. Ebanks is the fifth candidate to declare his intentions in the constituency on the edge of George Town.

He is running on an independent ticket and has not responded to CNS questions about any alliance he plans to make with any groups or parties during the campaign or after the election should he win.

In a press release, Ebanks said that if he was elected, he would spearhead the appointment of a constituency council and listed a number of plans he had for the local area, but he did not say who would be supporting his efforts to steer them through the House.

He said he wanted to create a resilience programme, “Revitalize Red Bay”, focusing on community safety using advanced technology, as well as other infrastructure projects from traffic control to public toilets, including the concern regarding the exit from Selkirk Drive onto Shamrock Road.

He listed a number of national issues that he wishes to address, from the cost of living to free health care for children and seniors, but did not state how any of his proposed policies would be achieved.

“I am running to serve the people of Red Bay and these Islands with integrity and dedication,” Ebanks said. “This election is about the future of our district and our country, and I am committed to working for meaningful progress to ensure that Cayman remains the best place in the world to live.”

Ebanks said he has had a career in law for more than twenty years, representing the business community and before local courts and tribunals. He resigned from the RCIPS in 1997 as a superintendent before taking up the post of director at the new Vehicle and Drivers’ Licensing Department. Since becoming a lawyer, he has served as chairman of the Labour Appeals Tribunal and a director on the OfReg Board of directors.

Philip Ebanks does care about Caymanian’s. He cares about filling his pocket. The majority of the public doesn’t know how many young Caymanian lives he has destroyed in Court having them lose their homes to foreign women all for the money. You protect your cayman people first.

Well I hope that is Phillip is concern about traffic issues in Red Bay/Prospect districts he is able to address the gates at Patrick Islands where the residents of Patrick Islands are planning to block access to public roads, schools, commerce, sporting facilities etc. to the residents of these two districts, these gates will create havoc in the area.

Red Bay extends quite far so what are your plans to clean up the part that is close to Prospect? Sabrina has done nothing to deal with all the derelict cars and dumping grounds on property. Fishermen living off vacant land in both districts goes unchecked. Crackheads running up and down Marina Dr. Both districts need to do better by cleaning up there communities first and foremost.

    My eyeballs hurt.
This is how I read it:
..he did not say WHO would be supporting his efforts to steer them through the House!
    (Ie. NOBODY)
He said he wanted to create an indifference programme..
He listed a number of national issues but
..he did not state HOW any of his proposed policies would be achieved.
“I am not running to serve the people of Red Bay and these Islands with integrity and dedication,”
“This election is about destroying the future of our district and our country” and ..”I am committed to working for no meaningful progress to ensure that Cayman becomes the worse place in the world to live.”
Maybe I just need my eyes checked, for he is only running to spoil split votes.

Another moron? Phillip please sit this out…permanently. You created a mess at Public Transport Unit when you were Director there and it has not been cleaned up yet!!

I’m familiar with some of your legal work and it had to be re-worked by a real lawyer, so that’s not even a feather in your cap.

    Stay home Phillip!!
