TCCP creates Youth Council for active policy input

(CNS): The Caymanian Community Party (TCCP) has established a Youth Council to give people between 16 and 30 an official platform to have their voices heard, provide input to policy-making and play an active role in the party’s decision-making process. The TCCP’s youth arm will be led by its new chairperson, Leanni Tibbetts, and will have a seat on both its General Council and Executive Council, ensuring the next generation is represented at the highest levels of the party.
As the inaugural TCCP Youth Council chair, Tibbetts brings extensive leadership and community service experience to the role. A graduate of Triple C School, she has a degree in aviation management and aviation environmental science from the Florida Institute of Technology and was one of four female pilots employed by Cayman Airways.
She is a former commissioned officer with the Cayman Islands Cadet Corps and was a founding recruit of the Cayman Islands Coast Guard, where she worked as a radio operator. She also held the title of Miss World Cayman Islands 2022-24.
TCCP Leader André Ebanks said the formation of the Youth Council was a vital step in ensuring that young Caymanians have a seat at the table.
“The TCCP Youth Council is about more than just giving young people a voice — it’s about giving them the power to help shape the future of the Cayman Islands,” he said. “With Leanni’s proven leadership, dedication and passion for service, I am confident this Council will have a real positive impact on the future direction of our country.”
Tibbetts said she was honoured to take on the role and excited to empower her peers.
“Young Caymanians are ready to participate, to contribute, and essentially to be the change they wish to see, and the Youth Council will be a thriving organisation and powerful force for good in this country,” she said. “This is about more than talking; it’s about engagement, action, leadership and advocacy to build a better future for all of us.”
The Youth Council will allow members to develop leadership skills, receive hands-on training, advocate on key issues and directly contribute to policy discussions on topics like energy, healthcare and education. The chairperson will also have a seat at caucus meetings, ensuring direct access to the party’s decision-making process.
Elections for Youth Council officers are expected before the end of the year, and members will be able to define its aims and objectives.
Young people interested in joining can sign up, volunteer or become constituency representatives to help shape Cayman’s future via the TCCP website or by emailing youthcouncil@votetccp.ky

Again – its all about the money. I heard her state on the radio interview with CMR that she quit her job at the airline to be been contracted (at double what she was making) to lead this new group. There was a lot of $$ flying around last election and there seems to be even more this time.
I hope these young people are not fool enough to sell out their birthright!
Any other young Caymanians who want to double their salary by being a youth leader for the other 2 parties?? I’m sure they are hiring!!
They should first of all had invited youth to form the youth wing and then have the youth elect their own leader…rather than Andre nominating someone. Optics matter in politics
They have my vote for sure now! Us young people are STRUGGLING.
Congratulations to Miss Tibbetts and the TCCP. A very inspiring initiative.
Yeah, sorry Dan, at first you had my vote all the way, but unless you can do something that matches this or surpasses it, then my vote and other young voters in my family for your party are as good as gone.
This move sets the TCCP apart
