Deputy premier’s sister hits campaign trail as independent

(CNS): Patricia Bryan has announced her intention to run for office in the constituency of George Town West as an independent candidate. Bryan, the older sister of Deputy Premier Kenneth Bryan, grew up in the capital. Introducing her candidacy, she said her legal background has given her a particular interest in the rehabilitation of Caymanians who have been incarcerated and are reentering society.
Bryan said she had opted to contest the GTW seat because of the number of Caymanian families there “who originate from underprivileged and working-class backgrounds”. But there are also families in that constituency who show that more can be achieved and “that Caymanians are successful people”.
With fewer independents entering the race this year than in the previous two elections, Bryan has not yet said who she would be willing to align with if she were to win. But as the campaign gets underway, she will undoubtedly come under pressure to join a party or group, as will all independent candidates, given the country’s experience over the last four years.
The GTW seat is currently held by David Wight, the PPM backbencher who is retiring from front-line politics, leaving the seat open. At this stage, the PPM has not yet identified a candidate who will run in this constituency under their banner.
However, the Cayman Islands National Party is fielding triple-Olympic cyclist Craig Merren for the seat, and another independent candidate, Hunter Walton, has also declared that he will run.
With four weeks to go until Nomination Day, the list of candidates for GTW may well grow for this open seat, where they have a better shot at winning than in constituencies where there are well-entrenched incumbents.
In her promotional material, Bryan, like many candidates, stresses her traditional Caymanian upbringing, values, principles and faith in God, and “the Caymanian way of finding pleasure in helping others”.
“As our islands move towards new horizons and fresh beginnings, I believe GTW could use a refreshing, more energetic approach. GTW needs regenerated nurturing and revitalizing as only a female delegate could,” she said, adding that she would do her very best to make GTW better than ever by providing renewed security.
“I will also aim to address key issues such as social support, welfare, and family development for all members of our community, including seniors, children, and women. My commitment extends to the employment and rehabilitation of Caymanians. Additionally, I will prioritize legal and correctional system reforms to bridge gaps in unequal access to legal services and eliminate disparities affecting Caymanians,” she added.
CNS has reached out to the deputy premier for comment on his sister’s campaign and we are awaiting a response.

In all fairness I thought not to post. But then I thought what do I have to lose. Despite what the title is here and the connection Miss Bryan is as different as day is from night from the Deputy Premiere from what I have heard. I do not know her petsonally. As I read the comments I am glad to see that there may be a handful of people who genuinely know her. I am appalled at the other comments by people who obviously do not, and have decided not to take the opportunity to get to know her. I see she has posted her social media pages directing where others can learn of what she has done with herself. I should say because it was publicly said on a social media for whatever reason the Deputy Premiere does not support Ms Bryan in her aspirations. Yet I have watched him support a apparently indisposable, yet dispicable other MP. Maybe she could outshine him. That to me says much about him, and not her. It seems to be the media may know something no one else does but it reflects worse on Mr. Bryan. However I know first hand she has supported him from a young boy to present day both personally and professionally. I have also heard though that she stands on her own and will not be persuaded by others just because. Members of Government knows had it not been for Ms. Bryan our Deputy Premiere would not have been able to filfil the role of Minister of Tourism. Yet he has treated her the same as he has the people of George Town Central. I wish them both well but especially her. She is intelligent, passionate, compassionate, what you see is what you get, she is genuine and with whatever limited resources she may have she has always endeavored to push the status quo by helping others. She may not be able to do garbage cleanups she may not have the big fancy politicals signs but I assure you she has done more than many who are presently hoping to win the votes. Unfortunately I nor my family are able to vote for her. I say give her a chance.
Question for Patricia. The following is what you filed in Court in a case against your boss at the RCIPS:
The actions and conduct of Defendant Dunn were acts of which she acted unconscionably and carelessly, her acts caused anxiety, intimidation, emotional distress, disruptive to progress of Plaintiff’s ability to professionally and to capably perform duties.
Due to this Plaintiff began to experience extreme anxiety, began to dread or be apprehensive of interacting with Defendant Dunn.
That due to the conduct of the Defendant Dunn Plaintiff consulted the advice of Senior Public Servants and RCIPS Officials, then eventually mental health services.
I have no comment on the case itself, and you had every right to bring it. However, if you had to consult mental health services for that, do you think you are mentally strong enough to handle the rough and tumble life of Cayman politics where every aspect of your personal life, as well as all members of your family, even some of whom you may not have previously known to be family, will be aired for public scrutiny?
@12:07 pm. Thank you for your comment. What I wish would have happened were you able to post every page of my Action here for all to see. However the entirety of all documents filed are available for the public to view on the course website. I hope you have read the case. It is obvious to chose to post a comment without posting contents of the case…which may enlighten to the facts behind why mental health services were chosen. I hold no shame on seeking mental health services and neither should anyone else. Those services were simply engaging a professional uninvolved person to have to speak to and support during the racism and PREJUDICENESS on the world place. In fact if more would including our Parliamentarians. We here in Cayman have a Mental Health day for a reason. If takes a strong person to not only realize support is needed, but to also seek that support for them selves. It is evident the self-serving intention of the comment which as is said in the court of law, not providing all facts. It is regretful that one must promote steps took to preserve and safeguard when senior management elected to patronize discriminate and nully. Why not mention more background and facts I ask? Too discredit me? I will say this to you…I will be among my fellow Caymanians in the House of Parliament where I am very assured that no one will use my race, my nationality, birthright, my intellect, my family connection, my admitted good work ethics against me in any discriminating, bullying, teardown, nor harassing manner. I am sure no one on *that* Floor will say to me “Patricia you go and tell your Caymanian people that we do not take cash in this office!” when I was one of at least seven persons in that room. There is *zero* tolerance for discrimination from where I am sitting and there should be zero tolerance in *every* workplace especially in the workplace where it is known that bullying and harassment will not be tolerated. There has been marketing and promotions for zero tolerance to bullying discrimination harassment within that particular employment. I take it you know this and has watched the youtube videos. So YES to answer your question…I am certain without a doubt that I will be able to handle public life and sit on the Floor of the Parliament to represent my Caymanian people because I know for sure again without a doubt that they will not use my birthright my race my culture my Heritage against me in any fashion or form. That author of comment is what repeatedly caused me to take the action I thought best realizing I was not nor am I just any ordinary citizen. I challenge you to comment giving full coverage of *all* facts of which I was subjected to while under the lax, biasness, and prujudiceness of (since you named the Defendant) “Defendant Dunn.” My slogan “Every *Caymanian* Deserves The Best”.
As the person who posted the original comment I shall repeat, my comment had nothing to do with the merits of your case but everything to do with your perceived need to seek mental health services. I am also in agreement with you statement for people in need of mental health to seek assistance.
Your reply about your ability to handle yourself under stress on the Floor of Parliament is an answer to a question that I did not ask. Specifically, I referred to you dealing with the stress of hustings. If you cannot handle that then put yourself first and let some other ignoramus warm the seat in Parliament.
Your answer is there, Sir or Ma’am. Others were able to realize that I answered the question. Hopefully you will. Thank you.
Excellent question!
“.. I was not nor am I just any ordinary citizen..”? Please explain!!
This is supposed to convince us you’re fit to handle the stress of Parliament?!
I appreciate how passionate you are and unafraid of challenging the status quo. Many are ignorant of the quiet battles you have won for our people. I am confident in your leadership and advocacy and wish you all the best in this race.
ONE Bryan is too many.
Sorry Patricia, your brother has irreparably damaged the family name.
Ole boy or girl I bet ya she knows dah what ya say in ya second sentence. Trust me ya nah she nah nuttin’ like dah ONE Bryan. Why unnuh tink he nah supportin’ her? Tink about dah.
Hope you’re right, but time will tell you that blood is thicker than water.
Lost me with faith in God.
Just a trump wannabe like your idiot brother.
Sadly, I am convinced that, beyond true personal belief, many candidates use the G word to pander to those voters who still do not get that there should be a distinct separation between church and state. They would do well to remember, though, that such a practice has been around since the birth of the church as an institution.
@4:36 am. Thank you for your insight.
I assure you, I take my belief unreservedly serious. Let us not forget our islands were also built on those beliefs. I have my mother and other leading, head-of-household ladies in my life to thank for instilling that belief from a very young age. In fact another nuggets is that I gave my life to God at age 13 at Pastor Winston Rose’s Church of God. I assure you to share that truth about myself was simply, and only, to give voters/residents who may not know me or that side of me, a look at me the person. Not to garner votes. Win, lose or draw, my faith will still be a part of who I am…imperfect and all. It only adds merits to how and why I care about others. And why I am the best candidate for GTW, and one of the 19 seats 🇰🇾. Again
thank you for your insight. I welcome the opportunity to learn what others share. #everycaymaniandeservesthebest

What I know about you is that you are a woman of integrity and have worked hard to singlehandedly get your children their education. You are a woman of conviction and shall not be beholden by anyone, including your sibling. I also know that you are trustworthy and will fight passionately for Caymanians without apology. All that’s good, Patricia. Hoping that as the Cayman electorate hears your plans you will be able to win their vote. Ignore the detractors and certainly ignore ignorant comments from people who think they know you. If i was in your constituency you would have my vote. Clap clap clap clap clap
@3:07 Thank you.

What happens if the voters boycott the elections? It’s sad when you see how many people who are tipping their hats in. it begs to ponder, if we don’t vote does that mean the UK will step in and governed?
Why is democracy bad?
I encourage intelligent, well-educated, professional and analytical Caymanians to run for office. It is their right, but it is up to the voters, to decide who deserves the privilege.
🚨 OFFICIAL TRANSMISSION FROM THE ADEPTUS RIDICULOUS 🚨
Re: The Cayman Islands’ New Olympic Sport—Political Collusion!
Ah, citizens of Absurdistan, it seems that nepotism, strategic deception, and blatant electoral maneuvering have now been officially recognized as Cayman’s national pastimes.
Enter the latest act in this grand farce:
The Deputy Premier’s own sister is hitting the campaign trail—as an “independent.”
Because why run under the same party banner when you can pretend to be an outsider while maintaining all the inside connections?
🛑 COLLUSION? OH NO, JUST “COINCIDENCE”
💀 Strategic Placement:
• She’s running as an independent, but let’s be real—does anyone believe she won’t vote in line with her brother’s party?
• This is UPM strategy 101—they’ve realized their brand is radioactive, so they’re sending in “independents” to keep the grip on power.
💀 Insider Advantage:
• Direct family ties to the second most powerful person in government.
• Unmatched access to campaign resources, political networks, and institutional knowledge.
• But sure, totally independent!
💀 Voter Deception:
• She can now campaign as if she’s “not like the others,” gaining support from voters who are disillusioned with the establishment.
• Then, once elected, she’ll quietly “align” with her brother’s party in Parliament.
• Cayman voters, beware—you’re being played.
🛑 POLITICAL COLLUSION—A PROVEN FORMULA
🚨 Step 1: Saturate the Ballot with “Independents”
• Instead of running under an unpopular party name, flood the ballot with “independents” who are actually party loyalists.
• This splinters the opposition vote while maintaining power in disguise.
🚨 Step 2: Pretend to Be the Fresh Alternative
• Campaign on “change,” “new ideas,” and “a fresh approach.”
• Carefully avoid mentioning party connections, inside deals, or backroom strategies.
🚨 Step 3: Once Elected, Quietly Join Forces
• After winning, suddenly “realize” that working with the ruling party is the best option.
• The “independents” mysteriously vote in alignment with the government on all key issues.
💀 Final Outcome? The Same Rotten System, Just With a New Coat of Paint.
🔥 FINAL VERDICT: COLLUSION, BUT MAKE IT SUBTLE (OR NOT)
✔ Looks like an independent.
💀 Votes like a loyalist.
🔥 Another tactical deception, expertly executed.
💀 Final Rating: -10,000 out of 10 for transparency.
🔥 Cayman politics—where “independent” means “covert operative.”
Citizens, beware. The 2025 Election Fraudulent Labeling Campaign has begun.

@3:19 pm. Thank you and I am quite appreciative of the taking of time to compose an extensive, carefully thought out and eloquently set out implausible comment.
I can tell we have never met 🙂. You would know my allegiance would be and is firstly…to what would be in the best interest of our beloved Cayman Isles.
This provides me with an opportunity to invite you to view Facebook pages “Patricia Bryan For GTW25”, “Legal Talk with Patricia Bryan” and “Patricia Bryan”. I can also recommend “Legal Talk With Patricia Bryan”‘s Youtube channel and Tiktok page.
Adding, I am always open to connecting and having meaningful conversations. Reach out sometime. I would be inviting to hearing your thoughts, and offering mine.
Thanks again for taking the time. I generally try to take away something from anything shared, regardless. It is the way to growth/evolving.
Sincerely.

I don’t know the woman, nor have I ever heard anything about her, but I have to state that I am pleasantly surprised to look at her picture and not get that “lights on, nobody home” feeling you get when looking into Kenny’s face.
I will have to try to remember to keep my posts to a single statement, because I don’t know if my thumbs up and down are for saying she looks intelligent, or for saying that Kenny is a dumbass. Oops, I did it again.

I wish people would stop judging and drawing conclusions when they have no facts. From the abundance of the heart the mouth speaks. Stop projecting your character on other. I’m so proud of Patricia and wish her
Success because the Patricia I know will stand for the people of these islands. Many are call but few are chosen and the polls will tell. She has experience, education, integrity and has always advocated for others and stands for justice. Go Patricia for the People. I am praying for you, you have made a bold step and so sorry I am not in GTW to vote for you.
Not a chance in hell.
Blah, blah, blah. No written manifesto – no wote. I am tired of the re-cycled hot air that 90% of people running for office share. I want something to use to hold candidates and elected politicians accountable for a change.
@2:44 Keep your eyes out for that Manifesto🙂🇰🇾. It is forthcoming very shortly.
In the main time view “Patricia Bryan for GTW” and “Legal Talk with Patricia Bryan” on Facebook. Thank you, sincerely.
I’m not on Facebook. Where else can I find your manifesto?
