Licensees reminded of Election Day booze-ban

| 11/03/2021

(CNS): The Liquor Licensing Board is reminding all those who hold a liquor licence that they are not permitted to sell intoxicating liquor while the polls are open on Election Day and anyone breaching the booze ban could end up in jail. Board Chair Noel Williams said that section 91 of the Elections Act states that no intoxicating liquor shall be sold or given away at any premises in all electoral districts from the opening of the polls and one hour after polls are closed. Anyone found breaching the Act is liable to a fine of $500 or six months imprisonment.
