Crime being directed by prison inmates, says Dr Frank

Dr Frank McField

(CNS Election): Frank McField, who is running as an independent candidate for Red Bay, has blamed the failures of the local prison system and the lack of genuine rehabilitation of offenders for the increase in local crime, which he says comes from inside the jail. “Most of the crime, the serious crime, on the outside is directed from the inside of Northward prison,” he said at a Chamber of Commerce forum. Having served as the social affairs minister from 2001 to 2005, which at the time included prisons, McField said if he is elected and makes it to Cabinet, he wants to have responsibility for prisons again.

McField was a victim of crime in December 2011 when he was shot in the leg but he has never revealed how that happened or who took him to the hospital that night.

Speaking at the Chamber forum for Red Bay candidates last week, he said that we (society) should not give up on inmates, even habitual offenders. But he said there were tremendous problems at the prison and until the issue of genuine rehabilitation was addressed, it would be difficult to have an effective law enforcement strategy.

McField said he wanted to play a part in improving the rehabilitation of prisoners, and that would take support from the community working together to give people coming out of jail a chance. He called for a “missionary” approach to helping “our people who have fallen through the cracks”, and said he wanted to make a difference with a collaborative effort.

Prevention, interdiction and helping former prisons become productive people again were the important elements, he said, and suggested he would like a ministry that included both prisons and labour.

There can be little doubt that Alden has trouble leading the country and cannot deal with the larger problems.
But for Dr. Frank to be considered a serious candidate he must explain the shooting incident to the voters. Given the serious crime facing the country Dr. Frank’s shooting is a cloud over his credibility and needs to be addressed.

You a buncheck of idiots. Dr.Franks is too educated to deal with una idiots.

Alden tell us about Saed! You were found in contempt of court for not giving information to police. XXXXX Dr Frank left politics for 8 years and has had time to reflect on his mistakes of the past! With Alden you get work permits, perminant residents and lawsuits. With Frank hey, he might got shot lol. But he is not a bubble head like Alden who thinks he knows best than everyone yet sat on his ass for four years and did nothing but make a fool of himself and the country on several documentaries and show appearances! Embarrassed me to say this is the leader of Caymanians!

CNS: To clarify: the premier was not in fact found to be in contempt of court. This is according to the CNS report of the hearing (see Premier ‘sorry’ for contempt gaff in Syed case).

“At Thursday’s hearing, the judge made it clear that the comments had caused significant problems and that the issue could have been considered contempt, which carries a fine and even possible jail term.”

8.38am What documentary did you watch. I guess it was on the same site or channel or site where you got the fake news that Alden had been ‘found in contempt of court’ .Lol.

Dr Gunshot have you reported this information to the police. Dr Where have you been living for the past 5 years?

Why haven’t you been able to get a decent job since being voted out of office.

If this is who we think should lead us we are deserve what we get.

Whatever you may think of Dr Frank, the comments on here are quite disgusting. We have major issues in this country that need to be addressed, at least Dr Frank can spot them and is willing to put up a solution to this very important issue. Every last one of those running for office has an incident in their past that is worthy of gossip and speculation not least the current Premier. Please lets stay on topic and stop the trolls from affecting the conversation we should be having. Caymanians, this is your time to stand up and be heard, make informed decisions about what it is that affects you and your family the most, do not be swayed by those trying to brain wash you with gossip and fake facts. Just because someone with a formal education says so, does not mean it is so, and vice versa. Question everything, be mindful and think of the future for your children. Let’s stop re-filling the pockets of those that have plenty and give everyone a helping hand to reach their goals and own potential, give them the freedom of education and choice.

Thanks Lorna, spare us the sob story.

Lorna, A person (especially of Dr. Frank’s social status) getting shot, and then deliberately offer a “mute” explanation is simply disturbing (yeah, and disgusting too).
In this unwelcome climate of serious crimes involving guns, Don’t you think this is a very, very serious, and justifiable point of contention for voters?

I am Lorna Bush and, as I am assisting Dr. Frank McField with his 2017 Political Campaign, I will assume that the “Lorna” to whom the comment was addressed to was me. This post, however, is simply to state that I was not the poster shown as “Anonymous says:

As a general rule, I put my name to my comments, as I am now doing. When I am not sure of the veracity of content that I may post, I simply refrain from posting, instead of cowering behind a veil of anonymity.

What is obvious though, is that there are others out there who obviously hold Dr. Frank McField in the same high regard as I do and can actually understand that there might be legitimate reasons why a field researcher would be best advised to protect the identity and sources of sensitive information.

Ms. Lorna don’t worry about these gossip war mongers! That’s all they are good for! You keep doing you and Dr Frank will be praised once their lives are better or as one had put it they soon beg for someone like Dr Frank to help them when things start hitting the fan!

We got some big questions to answer:

    Who shot J. R.?

    Who shot Tupac?

    Who shot BIG?

And now who shot Dr. Frank?

  9. Soiled Son says:

Ummh Frank, you are clueless as usual. Someone shot me? Say wha??? Many criminals are beyond rehabilitation, especially the habitual offenders. Throw away the key on them and stop the nonsense…

Since you are going on about crime, answer the one question that is on everyone’s mind….. WHO SHOT YOU DR. FRANK???

How can you expect support and respect from us, when you FAIL to report a crime committed against you… Oh, and by the way, shame on you for spitting on an officer of the law..

    Shining example..

    • Unison says:

Red Bay has Denniston Tibbitts, Alden McLaughlin, and Frank McField to choose from. Are you saying then that Innocent Alden McLaughlin has never refused to comply with the police, and makes the best candidate???

      • Anonymous says:

        Yes!!!

      • Lorna Bush says:

“Innocent Alden” has made some fairly serious gaffes in recent times, which causes me to wonder about his “successful” career in law. You should remember the Sayed case, which came close to a “Retrial’ because of careless and reckless comments made on popular radio:
“At Thursday’s hearing, the judge made it clear that the comments had caused significant problems and that the issue could have been considered contempt, which carries a fine and even possible jail term.”

Then the most recent case of “more arrests than the one that was reported” with regards to Kenneth Bryan.

        • Anonymous says:

Yes, there’s something a bit odd about all this. I mean, how much faith can we be reasonably be expected to have in Alden’s judgement?

        • Anonymous says:

Lorna before you call the Alden reckless re his comment about Kenneth you had better be absolutely sure that it did not happen. All it would take to make you look reckless and foolish would be for proof (Like a recording ,text message etc) to be presented that Alden was right.
