(CNS): National Heroes’ families and members of the Cayman Islands Government celebrated National Heroes, uniformed services and nation builders at a National Heroes Day ceremony in Heroes Square Monday, although the celebration was curtailed as a result of the current rampant spread of the COVID-19 virus through the community.
Activists aim for broad hate crime law

Around 600 temp workers help spruce up islands
(CNS): During the three-week long National Community Enhancement (NiCE) project, which ended Thursday, around 600 unemployed people worked in every district sprucing the place up for the holidays. They cleared beach accesses points, cleaned up beaches and cemeteries, improved road markings, supported solid waste management, and helped the elderly in their yards.
Activists clear 7 tonnes of beach rubbish in 2021
(CNS): Volunteers who took part throughout 2021 in regular weekend beach clean-ups cleared over seven tonnes of rubbish, most of it plastics, from local beaches across the Cayman Islands. The activists also revealed that 2021 marked a significant increase in plastic waste on our beaches, up more than 30% from 2019.
