Draft EIA for dump project due this week
(CNS): Officials on the ReGen project, the proposed deal between the Cayman Islands Government and Dart to build waste-to-energy and recycling facilities at the George Town dump, have said the draft environmental impact assessment will be available to the public this Friday, 18 August. Opposition blames premier for dump deal delays
(CNS): The PPM is blaming the government for the continued delays and increasing costs associated with the long-awaited and troubled deal with Dart for the proposed waste-management project, ReGen. Clean-up campaign begins but no sign of dump deal
(CNS): A new campaign to crack down on littering has been launched by the Beautification Task Force (BTF) in collaboration with the Ministry of Tourism and Ports. Mental health facility project delayed again
(CNS): The opening of the much anticipated long-term residential mental health facility in East End has been delayed by another three months. Despite stating less than two months ago the project would be finished in June, Health Minister Sabrina Turner has now said the facility will not be open until September.
Vaccine mandate for permit holders lifted
(CNS): The legal requirement for non-Caymanian residents and their dependents to be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 has been lifted. From Friday, applicants for work permits (new and renewals), permanent residency, specialist caregiver certificates, student visas or Cabinet entry permits, as well as dependents no longer need to prove they are vaccinated, according to government officials.
