Elections Office loses phone lines on deadline day
(CNS): Earlier today, the last day for people to register if they want to vote in the 2025 General election on 30 April, the primary phone line at the Elections Office went down. As a result, anyone seeking help should call 244-5400. Anyone who has still not registered is urged to visit the office in person before 7pm this evening with the necessary documentation.
The office is located at 68 West Bay Road, Bay Town Office Suites, George Town (across from The Wharf Restaurant).
Later in the day the office also reported that a small number of errors had been encountered by some individuals attempting to register online using the online application form.
“To immediately address this issue, the Elections Office has implemented improvements to the online application process. The public is also advised that applications may be submitted via email to office@elections.ky. All email applications must be submitted before midnight tonight to be processed,” officials added.
For any assistance or inquiries, please contact the Elections Office at 244-5400 or 949-8047, or visit the website here.

Not Govt’s fault if phone goes done. What has calling office have to do with registering?
All requirements are on Website along with all R/O’s Cell numbers.
Priceless!
Banana Republic
No bananas.
Equal portions of ignorance and incompetence
cig incompetence is never ending….
It is ridiculous in this day and age for the registration deadline to be 3 1/2 months before the 30 April election date. To add failures that make registration impossible on the last day is adding insult to injury.
You don’t need the phone line to register. Can do it online. Which in itself is a major improvement – not too long ago you had to attend in person with your original documents, now its a 20 minute exercise online. I am no fan of CIG and agree that normally government departments efficiency leaves a lot to be desired, but these people are doing their best to encourage and accommodate registrants. I am a new registrant and found the very courteous and helpful. And if you wait until the last day, when its been broadcast for the last couple of months, more shame on you.
Breaking news: You don’t actually need to call the Elections Office to register to vote, so the phone line crash is more of a dramatic plot twist than a real obstacle. Just show up in person before 7pm. Crisis averted, folks!
