Environmental lord becomes UKOT’s new minister

(CNS): Zac Goldsmith has been named as the latest UK Government minister of state for overseas territories at the Foreign Office. The third minister so far this year, Lord Goldsmith is a life peer and is well known for his support of environmental issues. Goldsmith has also helped to fund the conservation of wildlife in Britain’s overseas territories. The son of the late billionaire businessman James Goldsmith, Lord Goldsmith is one of the UK’s wealthiest politicians.

Since taking up the post on 1 November, Goldsmith has cancelled the annual meeting of UKOT leaders which was due to take place next week. It is likely the sudden cancellation was fuelled by his late appointment after his predecessor Jesse Norman was moved to Transport under the new PM Rishi Sunak’s Cabinet Reshuffle. A new date for the Joint Ministerial Council has not yet been released.

With his obvious lack of common sense ( if that is so) he should feel right at home with the PACK. Our environment cannot get a break.

Goldsmith is generally regarded as one of the dimmest, least competent politicians going. Only daddy’s money got him anywhere. The stories about how stupid he was when campaigning for mayor of London are legion. This article feels quite generous towards him:
(https://www.theguardian.com/commentisfree/2016/dec/03/zac-goldsmith-last-punt-self-loathing-accumulator-richmond-park). But he went to Eton and that is all the qualification needed for the Tories, even for an incompetent nepo-baby buffoon. This appointment shows nothing but contempt for the OTs, and is a terrible example of the Tory party handing out jobs to their rich chums.

If Goldsmith is a moron, then he an Panton should get along just fine. Two fools, who are overconfident, with more responsibility than they can handle and are out of their league.

This Zac Goldsmith is a dreadful fellow, ran against the London Mayor parroting false statements about the now-Mayor being a “terrorist supporter” alongside using islamaphobia to appeal to right-wing voters (https://www.theguardian.com/commentisfree/2016/may/07/zac-goldsmith-racist-campaign-london) – well hope his term is short as he up goes through the revolving door that is being a Minister in the UK Government, the rate they’re going why don’t we just send an actual person from the Overseas Territories to represent us !
