Getting ridiculous now. No where else in Western Hemisphere applying such strict quarantine rules. Just I am aware if a very healthy unvaccinated family quarantine for 10days+ all because of positive LFT / PCR tests. Hardly any symptoms other than an occasional cough, slight chill for one night. The flu has been worse. The mental anguish according to this family was more punishing than the diagnosis of COVID. Need to Protect the elderly and feeble but this cannot continue. This is now a personal choice to protect oneself; Time to move on after two years. In three years there will be a massive review, I’m certain, of the impact on people’s liberty and its mental health impact will be far worse than severity of COVID. The lawyers are hovering in anticipation of law suits.

Sorry for your aguish at a simple concept: we are quarantined ourselves, not as some kind of cruel punishment, but to make sure we are no longer asymptomatic positives to protect the “elderly, feeble” and wider community. Have you considered that maybe if they had been vaccinated it wouldn’t take 10+ days to clear out to a sufficiently low viral load?

PSA: Remember, if you are among the many who are immunocompromised (cancer, certain medications, genetic disposition, certain medications, etc.) you’ll want to wear an N95 mask in public indoor places.

Maybe the cruise ship arrivals are partly responsible, a ship returned to Miami 3 days ago with 100 active cases on board.Do we check the figures in Miami for returning ships that have visited Cayman?.

4th booster. Is then that we will need vaccine every 6 months?. If thats the case why 4th soon 5th or even 10th booster?

Why not tell people to go get a shot every 6 months?

The guidance can change, and we can change along with it, or cling to the past thinking. Everyone can make their own choices based on the revised public health assumption that their immune systems will likely confront every new strain going forward. Personally, I’d rather have a 15 minute booster every 6 months, than be sick like a dog for 2 weeks every other month. That’s not normal for me, and not for other people who have dependants and enterprises that count on them.

Except getting the booster doesn’t prevent you from getting sick like a dog with Omicron or whatever comes next. Not to mention a whole set of problems from the booster itself.

A simple equation it is not.

And if you’ve been already infected with the most recent strain the booster might hurt your immune instead of helping.

Comirnaty, still the best we’ve got, primes an immune system to target the foreign coronavirus spike proteins (which are altering). This accelerates the identification and elimination of these hijacking invaders from the body. Immune system function varies by person, age, diet and other variables. Take a LFT if you’re worried about asymptomatic interactions. The bigger worry for most should be a fully-waning first booster – and specifically because this is not a flu or a cold.

The booster might harm your immune system lol. Which scientific publication did you pick that up from? The voices in your head?

Relax. It is only an option for those that want or need it.

I get an annual flu vaccine because I would rather not get sick with the flu. I expect now I will also get an annual vaccine.

This is a choice, not a requirement.

The targets are the elderly and vulnerable? Given the applying take up rate on the third booster suspect they will be offering prizes again to get rid of the stocks they have – the low hospitalization rate will make take up this time even worse.

You don’t know what you are talking about. The clinic was busy and efficient yesterday from open. They are giving second boosters to anyone over 18, or over 12 with a vulnerability. Open 2-7pm in the old Woods building beside DHL.Fourth dose showing up in myHSA minutes later. We are extremely fortunate to have this opportunity and level of experience.

Prove me wrong then. Remind me – what’s the take up rate on the third booster? Bearing in mind you can only say you have a fourth if you already had a third. And whilst you are about it, what’s the HSA stats on fourth jabs? Availability is not the issue – take up is.

I wonder what did the Government expect with relaxing of everything and the cruise ship passengers flooding George Town without social distancing and without masks. We all should have a little common sense sometimes.
