(CNS): Richard Edward Nash (27) and Kasnique Cupid (37) were found guilty on Friday of a violent robbery at the Tortuga liquor store in Governor’s Square on the evening of 7 February 2020. They were convicted of a joint enterprise following a judge-alone trial before Justice Marva McDonald-Bishop in November last year, after a mistrial in May. The judge remanded both of them into custody, revoking their bail ahead of a planned sentencing hearing at the end of April.

The pair are facing potential lengthy sentences following their convictions for the armed liquor store heist, in which a member of staff was hurt and two masked men, one armed with a knife, made off with more than $3,000. The crown’s case was based largely on phone, CCTV and circumstantial evidence, but the judge said she was satisfied by the strength of that evidence.

Justice McDonald-Bishop said that Cupid, who is also known as Eve Highvoltage and was a former employee at the Tortuga store, had “spun a tale” when she took the stand in her own defence that was a recent fabrication and unbelievable.

The judge said she was satisfied that Cupid was in her vehicle, which was used in the stick-up and caught on CCTV, before, during and after the robbery, having taken both the perpetrators to the scene of the crime, waited for them and then assisted in their getaway.

The judge said she believed Cupid was motivated to commit the robbery to pay off a debt relating to a car that was about to be repossessed, but the day after the robbery she was able to clear the debt.

The judge found that Nash, who did not give evidence in court, had lied to the police, which, coupled with the phone records and other circumstantial evidence, made her sure he was one of the two men who went into the store, threatened and hurt the staff, before making off with the cash.

The third person in this joint enterprise has never been charged.

  1. Stop importing them! says:

These people are having such a negative impact on Cayman society. They come here and try to knock up as many Caymanian women as they can, so they don’t get sent back to Jamaica. They prey on Caymanian women with low self esteem and once they knock her up, they move on to another one. They are bringing their ghetto culture to Cayman and imbedding it here. The worst thing about it is that white foreigners can’t tell the difference between Jamaicans and Caymanians, so they immediately think that Jamaicans represent Caymanian culture!

Good idea, 6:28……except that it hasn’t worked anywhere else in the world where it has been tried for many years.

Can we please stop importing criminals from Jamaica.

I met one recently and the only time he did not tell lies is when he was not speaking. I could not understand the need for that person to be constantly dishonest especially in light of the fact that he was being treated nicely and humanely. I concluded that it is the need to fight to survive which was embedded in this person and that he could not see the kindness and empathy which surrounded him. I tried hard not to use him to judge a nationality though.

ghetto culture….should be eradicated from society.

Simply has no place in Cayman.

We all are paying the price in more ways than one. Tolerance is being viewed as condoning the behaviour and we are being dragged down as a country because of it.

Send this foolishness back from which it came, it has never been congruent with the standards and customs of the Cayman Islands.

$3k split three ways, if it was a successful venture. So, for the sake of a grand, these idiots go away for a few years. Do they share a brain cell?

Its kind of funny that her instagram is filled with designer clothes worth $000s, yet she was about to have her car repossessed and used a needs assessment unit card (her husband was on NAU benefits) to purchase the gloves for the robbery.

    Some people need mental help.

    • Anonymous says:

Dude….those are all fake designer clothes.

    • Anonymous says:

Some people need to be banned from receiving NAU benefits. Using a NAU card to buy the accessories for an armed robbery is an all time low.

Not a mental health problem. She’s just nasty.

She loves to brag on social media and make us Caymanians look stupid! Her “Caymanian husband” is a first generation Caymanian and should be shame to be using NAU with all the bragging these 2 did on social media claiming to be high rollers. What about the breach of Quarantine that our government had to put them up in a facility because they/she just didn’t want to follow the rules of our country. Shame on the Caymanians that patronized her knowing well it was all wrong! I really and truly hate this social media braggidotius culture and living on welfare IDIOTS!

With all due respect to everything else you say I wish to correct you: her husband is a multi-generational caymanian. His mother is from the bowels of East End. Lastly, I personally know him and he is a first rated man and an awesome father to his children. You cant hold him for the terror his wife got involved in. Say what you want about her but leave him and their children, who he now need to raise alone, out of this.

Deportation Order? Whose side are our prosecutors on?

    • Burning Spear says:

The fact that you have to ask that speaks volumes! They have the right to continue their crime spree from prison and when they get out. This is Cayman nowadays my friend. How dare we ask them to leave this jurisdiction!

      • Anonymous says:

We should demand they leave. The fact that those responsible do not even ask, despite our laws requiring it, leads us to believe they are inept and/or corrupt. They are destroying Cayman.

        • Anonymous says:

Sadly, they stick around long enough to get Caymanian status and abuse it to bring other criminal family members to repeat the cycle.

The majority of Caymanians by birth are unfairly grouped in the same basket as these clowns, and subsequently destroys our nationality’s reputation when people like these criminals receive Caymanian status.

At that point, we can’t do anything. Just take the middle finger and swallow pride.

          What a mess!!

        • Anonymous says:

Demand away… This is Cayman, no regard to enforce laws; hell, they may run for election in West Bay and get elected!

Eve watch too many crime movies! She lives in a fantasy world with no foundation or substance, pure HYPE!

  10. Anonymous says:

Good now deport their asses upon completion of sentence. Far too many like them reside here.

Wasn’t she the same woman breaking quarantine and refusing to answer the front door to Public Health and Police?

      Good riddance!!!

  11. Caymanian says:

Throw the kitchen sink at them. Do not hold back 1 iota.

I am tired of seeing criminals spared while victims suffer.

  12. Anonymous says:

Ghetto fab lifestyle we have imported from Jamaica.

  13. Anonymous says:

Cupid is an idiot. Please increase the sentence to reflect her constant lies.

  14. Anon says:

Give them 25 years. No place for robbery when normal caymanians and residents want to happily shop in peace.

  15. Notta Robba says:

    Wow! TALK ABOUT STUPID!!!!!
