(CNS): A motorcyclist was treated at the hospital for non-life-threatening injuries after a crash around 8:30am Wednesday involving a white car on Shamrock Road, close to Ocean Club. I’d be interested to know how many motorcycle & related deaths (due to wreckless riding) have occurred from the time they changed the law to allow importation of these bikes. The island is small – we are only 22 little miles long and they fly along the bypasses, Spotts straight, Queens highway and Rumpoint road like greased lightning. Maybe it’s time that the RCIPS implements a point system against driving licenses and a reward system for getting video footage that leads to an arrest / mandatory loss of license. This will clearly separate the responsible from the irresponsible riders.

Had a wonderful lad on a crotch rocket overtake a few cars on a residential road. Then he proceeded to stop at the road before turning, great job. Or do I though. really he just stayed there to clean his glasses, check his phone…. See if he knew anyone walking across the street. Guy just blocked the road for everyone he just overtook for no reason. I will never understand their pea brains.

The mature and responsible motorcyclists (often seen riding together on a Sunday) should form a club, register its members and approve applications to join; a responsibility yes, but this could control the immature and reckless from getting a license to ride if the club was given the authority to decide who qualifies for a license to ride. Most, if not all, motorcycle deaths have been caused by those not riding cautiously treating the motorways as racing tracks. Ban motorcycle importation above certain engine size unless the rider is an approved club member. This could eliminate all the crazy joyriders, avoid more deaths and bring an end to the ceaseless ignorance.

It’s a ridiculous idea. The last thing Cayman needs is another committee.

Everyone on this island who drives and rides like an idiot needs proper education. For some it’s classroom lessons and theory, others it’s a CUC pole cracking their engine block.

Not sure how this crash occurred, but it’s stupidity on the part of at least one person.

Tell me this though, why do idiots traveling west, insist on driving in the right lane? So, they purposefully want to drive nearer to oncoming traffic with no barrier to separate them, or they enjoy slowing down when a vehicle turns right in front of them and they can’t get into the left lane (where they should). This foolishness is quite often done by landscape gardeners with trailers, or the 30mph cruisers. Aaaaaargh!

I stay off bikes…too dangerous…odds of getting in a fatal crash very high anywhere in the world..no room for error…can u immagine losing a limb…or sitting in wheel chair rest of life…no way…nah sah…

How about the police catching the fool popping wheelies on Shamrock Road, daily! I see him regularly on an off-road scrambler, he doesn’t give a sh*t about anyone else’s safety.

Shamrock road again, and again, and again. If the NRA is adding more lanes why don’t they just take steps to make this another bypass with two lanes same direction divided by a median? At least the chances of hitting someone coming in the opposite direction are minimized. As it is right now, the section of Shamrock leading from Prospect roundabout to Savannah (historically the most tragic accidents along this strip), should be at NO MORE THAN 30MPH!!! Just extend the Savannah speed limit to the bypass! Too many residents on and off this main road facing danger every single day as they wait to exit and HOPE that some idiot doesn’t rear or front end them. Such a simple solution that might do some good. Wake up NRA and take notice before another death on this now infamous “deadway”; in some way you are responsible for what may come of your inaction. Many Shamrock residents have been begging your department for way too long…..nada….zzzzzz

The speed limit doesn’t matter as no-one pays any attention to it. The speeders, weavers and tailgaters will carry on if it 20, 30, 40 or 50.

Enforcement and zero tolerance by the police on this stretch would be a better tactic.

and the speculation may now begin:

You mean the speculation about how fast he was going / weaving, surely not by a biker on Shamrock Road. A daily occurrence smh
