Masked men break into Prospect bar

(CNS): Three men, all wearing masks, gloves and coveralls, were captured on CCTV breaking into the rear of a bar in Prospect in the early hours of Thursday morning, police have said. An investigation has begun to this latest of a string of commercial burglaries that detectives believe are carried out by organised groups targeting business premises. The men entered the building after breaking a window at around 3am yesterday and ransacked the bar’s office but police have not yet been able to establish what was taken. The police quickly viewed the CCTV footage, where they saw the gang.

“Police are investigating on the premise that the recent spate of commercial burglaries are being carried out by a group of organised individuals targeting businesses and stealing cash and valuables,” said Detective Superintendent Peter Lansdown.

Detectives are encouraging anyone with information regarding these men and the various commercial burglaries that have been occurring to call the George Town Police Station at 949-4222. Anonymous tips can be provided to the RCIPS Confidential Tip Line at 949-7777, or the website.

Release the video footage so people can Identify by the clothing or something

Police cant investigate because they don’t even do a proper police report. With all the video’s or evidence they are still to lazy to interrogate or investigate the evidence. SORE LOSERS.

They give out tickets and they themselves can even drive.

I still haven’t met a honest humble police officers to this day.

Idiot. Please don’t join the RCIPS, you’d not be bringing up the average for sure.

I didn’t know 10 year old used this site!

Firstly, generally the police issuing tickets aren’t the same detectives who investigate burglaries.

Secondly, you’re murdering the English language.

Thirdly, you don’t have to put your every riveting thought into text format.

At least they had the decency to wear masks, probably because they were not vaccinated.

I hope they also kept their social distance if they’re not members of the same household. If the video shows otherwise, it should be an added charge

It is unfortunate that these events are happening more and more. However, the more people that we let in and the less means to a job for the unemployed, this will continue.

RCIPS step up to the plate. Prove you can do a better job than you are doing and worthy of your big fat cheques and perks.

    • Beaumont Zodecloun says:

Agree to an extent, however what, exactly could the RCIPS have done to prevent this?

Not just here, but in all the various places and countries I have lived, the police are mostly in a position to respond to things after they have happened. Sometimes detective work can be done and career criminals can be stopped. Police can’t keep you safe. Only you can do that.

  5. The Wonderer says:

IF they are ever caught, will they be Caymanian?……….. or from Timbuktu?
Or perhaps London. I hear that things aren’t doing well in the Mother Country.
Or maybe a little closer to home. How about Jamaica or Honduras?
Or maybe they are ex-politicians who just can’t make it without some graft….?

  6. Concerned Citizen A says:

    The lax attitude to deterring crime has bred an environment where the risk/costs to committing crime do not outweigh the rewards. Citizens have been fed this idea that police will protect you, which simply doesn’t happen. It can’t because the police;

    a) do not care about my well being or my families to the extent that I do (this is natural)
    b) are completely reactionary. They are contacted either during or after a crime has occurred and will never be there in time.

With item b, couple that with our forensic investigative services rarely coming up with any wins. Why should I believe in the RCIPS anymore?

Why is it that the ‘proper’ way of existing in modern society is to sit back like sheep waiting for the farm owner to come out when the wolves are terrorizing us? The farm owners are safe in their own houses, getting their guaranteed salaries regardless of whether they do a good job or not. The farm owners have their own means of protection while they bunch us together and say to us “give us a call when you need” or “buy some CCTV cameras with good quality” so that you spend thousands of dollars to hand them video footage that will never lead to any sort of conclusion. Meanwhile you have lost your hard earned property and sense of safety. Trust me, as someone who had a burglar break in to my house when I was there, you never go back to feeling your home is safe. I guess you can also say you never go back to being naive in thinking your house is safe.

There are some ways to get this to change.

    i) those who have knowledge of who are doing these things (which there are) need to understand the environment they are building by not standing up and turning in the culprits will affect them as well.

ii) The government needs to hear the voice of people who are tired of the lackluster approach to governance. We should be tired of them only enriching themselves at our expense. I don’t care if its PPM or PACT, the same song has been playing for years. There needs to be more pressure on the government to deliver on the responsibilities they asked to be accountable for.
