Needle still stuck on national vaccine rate

| 28/07/2021 | 101 Comments

(CNS): Following the reopening on the clinic on Tuesday, the number of additional people vaccinated, released by public health officials, revealed that the needle on the national rate remains stuck. Just 113 people received their first dose of the COVID-19 vaccination over the last day and another 90 got their second. This means the national rate of those who are now fully vaccinated remains at 67%, while 70% of the population has had at least one jab.

According to Chief Medical Officer Dr John Lee, all of today’s test results for the coronavirus were negative. There are currently ten active cases of the virus among the 1,027 people in quarantine and isolation, four of whom are suffering symptoms with one person still in hospital.

This is not about the vaccine (which is soon going to be redundant). It’s all about closing up and taking over the island for use of Government and its dependents until all the money is spent and the bills are due. Normal humans in power stuff. It won’t last long.

    • Anonymous says:

The goal is to avoid any possible blame when there is the inevitable community transmission or somebody dies. The only people who matter are Cayman voters, many of whom don’t care if the island stays closed.

Those that want to be vaccinated already are. We’re not gonna move much higher and definitely won’t hit the magic 80% so time to revise that pretty little colour chart of the phases.

How will they ever reach the target while they continue to increase the population. It’s a losing battle, like trying to fill a leaking bucket.
Instead of putting restrictions on people leaving, it would make more sense to stop people coming in.

    • Anonymous says:

If all the number of children that go towards making up our population , (in other words those that cannot be vaccinated), were deducted from the overall population number, then the vaccinated target could be reached…yes..???
      Lies
      Damn lies

From listening to the Deputy Premier last night on the Resh Hour, it is clear that this Government does not wish to reopen any time soon.

They keep making the argument that it is not worth to risk lives for a few tourist dollars, but what about adding daily flights and just keeping the quarantine in place? Why can’t we all have the freedom to travel if we need?

And let us be clear we are all impacted by this prolonged border closure, not only those in tourism.

Source Material: Extracts from a leaked contract from Pfizer regarding Vaccines
    https://threadreaderapp.com/thread/1419653002818990085.html

Based on the document, Pfizer have admitted that the vaccine is an experimental drug and they have legally removed themselves from all responsibility, on top of structuring the document in such a way that they will continue to receive billions of dollars every year regardless of the efficacy of the vaccine, regardless if they even make the vaccine and definitely regardless if they have any adverse side effects.

What if, just hear me out, what if governments committed to a contract they didn’t read and now need to keep up the facade so that they do not suffer the negative perception from their people. I mean, first we needed two doses, now its three. With a contract like this it explains why there are more “booster shots” needed every so often. They committed to a contract that states they HAVE to buy these doses from big pharma regardless, so may as well make people get it.

Wow, Mike Lindell (the MyPillow guy) writes posts on CNS!

Thanks for the information, Mike. I unfortunately received both doses, but I wonder if there is a way to now remove the vaccine-induced antibodies to the SARS-CoV-2 virus from my body, as well as any immunity residing in my B and T cells as a result of the vaccine?

I wish I had this information you provided Mike before my vaccine.

(PS Mike, I have a bit of acne but now Im thinking it is small pox, and my back is a bit sore so maybe I have polio? I thought vaccines eliminated those diseases, but I now think those were lies! Thanks, and I will be ordering more pillows from you).

Useless comment. You provided nothing to the OP’s post. You merely try to insult them and in doing so show your immaturity. A simple post about an article they saw with a n opinion. Outlandish, but an opinion none the less and your only response is to attempt to ridicule. Your comment has no bearing on the original comment that im sure you have no comprehension skills. Completely subject to your emotions.

But yes, this is MyPillow guy territory (who said on Steve Bannons podcast this week that Biden will resign in August and Trump will be reinstalled …….not kidding, look it up).

I think the initial post is so silly, and obvious satire and trolling to get a response. But this retort is Mad Magazine, Jon Stewart era Daily Show worthy. (Maybe both written by the same person).

Open the border for Vaccinated travellers ONLY. The only exception are people with a legitimate medical condition (get a DR’s Note) and children under 12. All of the anti-vac folks can have the island. So jaded as to how Cayman has become (I’m Caymanian) they can have my passport this place is turning into Kingston JA so fast. You can’t even walk from your car at your house without getting held up or verbally assaulted anymore. Open the borders and let nature take its course.

Some negative comments on vaccination r noted. We have a few doctors. Of them very few that r trained in public health and these viruses. We have to depend on large countries like USA UK for experience and guidance. Also from WHO. If all these organisations work for some reason goes wrong we also face the consequences like them. But if we dont want to catch the train as accident may occur we will be left behind. We have been leading in many aspects and we r on world map althogh small pop. Govt has a duty to enlighten public and provide knowledge with confidence.Trust cant be asked it should be gained.

The plan better not include closing businesses or closing government departments, most of which have yet to meet pre covid efficiency.

We are going to open, the unvaccinated will get sicker than the majority of us, what is the plan on how to respond to this without punishing the responsible actions of the vaccinated?

Budesonoid, the press don’t report on this already FDA approved drug and already tabled by the senate committee for state affairs.

CNS: Budesonoid is on the list therapeutic drugs that appear to possibly be effective after people have symptoms of covid. Unlike the vaccines, it is not a preventative. Your doctor and all public health officials will be up to speed on this and other drugs and they are the ones who need to know because they understand the science. Here’s an article on BMJ for anyone interested. You’re trying to make out that this is a big cover up but most large media do periodic updates on therapeutic drugs.

Ivermectin on the other hand is preventative and has been cited by many renowned doctors as being the cure for covid as well.

Funny though, all these pro vaxxers (non choice believers) can’t seem to handle the fact that there are other options to the vaccines that actually work…

Let’s not mention that it’s been around since 1970, won a Nobel prize and only costs 70c a dose.

        • Ivermectin says:

My family has been using ivermectin while sick with the delta variant. I can say it is not a magic bullet it did help based on what we saw. The younger 20 year olds (2 on ivermectin 2 not) who took it were well in 10 days the other in 3 days versus 16 to 18 in the non-ivermectin group (two 20 year old people). The 50 year olds (2 on ivermectin and 3 not) – 2 non-ivermectin in hospital and 1 ivermectin as well. All 50 year olds still battling fatigue 20 to 30 days after initial infection. So, it does appear to help but it did not help a great deal based on my “case study”. All the people above were not vaccinated.

Look CNS, of course it is not necessarily a ‘cover-up’, but you can admit that they are not forthcoming about many things. Especially if it means people will have a reason NOT to get the vaccination.

They also do not give out details on those that have gotten sick, or have died. Details such as if there were underlying reasons that make one more susceptible. They cannot allow people to know everything because it will give credence to those that are hesitant for whatever reason including autoimmune deficiencies.
But hey, all of you holier than thou people keep bullying and ganging up on those horrid anti-vaxxers. Lol
It is actually unfair to lump them together with the nutballs that think some vaccines cause autism…

Makes me laugh when this vaccine is compared to vaccines that have been proven and in use for decades.

But anyway, I had it, am still alive and I hope whatever negative effects there are don’t show up after a year or after the next booster that we will be forced to get.

And I agree, give fair warning to open up and let the chips fall where they may.

80% vax of the population is never going to happen.
    Open the borders!
The virus can’t recognise the nationality of the human species. So the idea of vaccinated travellers whether to return home or arrive for vacation to these islands is moot.
Governments worldwide have panicked since this Pandemic became world headlines.
Why did the HSA open our special ‘Flu clinic’ at the end of 2019. Anyone who doesn’t believe Covid was here back then is not really thinking logically. Nobody died back then from the ‘flu’.
AND I will say again the magic number that nobody knows is the percentage of Asymptomatic people who have had Covid without knowing. Comparing known cases of Covid V’s Covid deaths is nonsense and quite frankly has been breeding fear into all the populations.
Lastly to all the people scorning the ‘Anti Vaxxers’’,
Many people are not worried about the vaccine but are extremely worried about the long term effects that are completely unknown at this early stage.
    Open the borders.

Remember we patted ourselves on the back for increasing overnight tourist numbers when the eastern Caribbean had been ravaged by hurricanes? We need 9,389 second doses in the next six weeks to hit 80% by September 9th (as per the government plan).

Of those second doses, 7,095 would still need first doses, which would have to be administered in the next 3 weeks to allow for second doses by Sept 9th. That is 2,365 first doses in each of the next three weeks.

Unfortunately, 0% chance of reaching goal by Sept 9th. So what is plan B? (Can we at least allow residents to freely travel and add some flights after Sept 9th)?

I have been saying for a few weeks, we have essentially reached a saturation point of willing people, and are now just down to trickles each day.

I am so tired of these damn flight wait lists and having to join Facebook groups hoping to latch on to a private charter. Just need a way to get to Miami and the rest is easy.

First up, the population figure is a flat out lie. PACT has no intention of opening the border.

    • Hubert says:

With what has been happening in Florida the past 2 weeks in regards to the Delta variant we are in no position to open with so many unvaccinated here.

      • Anonymous says:

What does being unvaccinated have to do with your logic? The Delta variant will infect everyone regardless of the vaccination status, only the severity of the symptoms will differ between those vaccinated and unvaccinated. The viral shedding for vaccinated is stated to be low, however I’ve not seen any data to support that and those proclaiming in don’t have solid data on it either. So, at the core of it all if the purpose is to not have “cases” then a full lockdown for the rest of our lives is the only viable option because vaccinated or unvaccinated will contract and spread the virus. Now, if your talking about ‘deaths’ as a result of COVID, then the vaccine is a good route to take but I realize the world stopped talking about deaths and started focusing on cases.

We will never rid ourselves of cases with this approach and its frustrating because basic critical thinking can lead to that conclusion, yet we are trying the same things over and over in hopes it just works this time.

      • Anonymous says:

Then following your logic 9:06, no one should be traveling for any reason. Stay locked up forever.

The real logic should be that only vaccinated people (no matter who- residents, expat, tourist) should be allowed to travel. Learn to live with the virus as it will be here forever. The real danger is to the unvaccinated.

        • Anonymous says:

The virus is the danger, not people who are not vaccinated. They made their decision, get over it. An unvaccinated person will not do shit to you, if you are doing what you are supposed to be doing. Everyone I know right now with Covid is vaccinated. Some are worse off than others but they are all making it through. Those that had it before who were not vaccinated, recovered. It may shock you, but the vast majority of people who have not been vaccinated and had covid, recovered, and have natural antibodies now. Whether you are vaccinated or not, it does not matter. The virus will find you anyway

          • Anonymous says:

A very small percentage of vaccinated people end up in the hospital with Covid. The majority (98%?) of those in hospital, on ventilator and dying from Covid are unvaccinated. Those are the facts.

While I agree with you – I have double jabbed relatives sick. They are not in the hospital but they have tried to get admitted. You have to be really sick to get in. So, it does appear to fend off the worse of the illness.

Be careful how travel down this path because you can quickly end up doing things you never thought you would do.

        • Anonymous says:

Precedent is very important. Most decisions made in the court system are set on precedent. It’s human nature to use the past to make decisions in the present.

So with that in mind, lets think about how events can play out if we start forcing people to be vaccinated. The precedent is set in the minds of those who have the means and authority to dictate the lives of others that ‘it’s in the public interest’, ‘I’m doing this for your safety’, ‘We did this with the vaccine, its practically the same thing’. These rationales are fine because we are using the precedent set before.

I’m against the mandating of vaccinations under the guise of public safety, because the precedent set throughout history is always “national security” and “National Interest”. Hitler stated his ideas were in the public safety for the Aryan German people. President Xi of China use national security and national interest to silence Hong Kong. It’s something the world has forgotten but it was only 2 years ago that China went into Hong Kong, against the treaty stipulations silenced any and every dissenter who spoke against the Chinese Communist Party.

Precedent is a very dangerous thing. The first time something is implemented it needs to be as close to correct as it can be, because it sets the tone for years to come and will be used as the reason behind every extreme action. When those actions are pointed at you, I want you to remember the precedent you set before.

          • Anonymous says:

There is already precedent set from mandatory vaccinations for schools. It’s done for public health and safety, not national security.

Based on what we are seeing around the world the measures you are suggesting don’t stop cases all Together.

Are you fine with remaining closed because we didn’t achieve that magic 80%? If this is all about saving people’s lives then why not 100%? I’m not sure people have thought about why these targets exist and if the targets themselves are aligned with the goal. then again, can you even articulate the goal of this entire charade?

The goal is not to be blamed if and when there is community transmission and somebody dies. This is the only goal.
