60% of population fully vaccinated

(CNS): Public Health officials said that just over 43,000 people have now completed both doses of the COVID-19 vaccine, or 60% of the revised population of 71,100 people. According to the latest statistics, just 169 people had their first dose over the last day and 67% of the population has had at least one shot. If the take-up level remains the same, it will be several weeks before Cayman reaches a rate of vaccination to provide herd immunity that can protect children and those who cannot be vaccinated from potential exposure once the borders reopen and the risk of the virus circulating in the community increases significantly.

While there is now overwhelming evidence that the vaccines prevent people from becoming ill and dying, those who remain unvaccinated are still vulnerable, as demonstrated in the UK. A successful vaccination programme there led to dramatic drop in infection rates until it had the lowest numbers in Europe, but there has been a surge of COVID-19 as the particularly infectious Delta variant takes a hold. It is now spreading rapidly in the UK among those who have not had any vaccine, while the rest of Europe is bracing for a surge in this variant.

Meanwhile, the were no positive cases among yesterday’s coronavirus test results. There are now 17 active cases of the virus among the 1,064 people in quarantine and isolation. Three of those people are suffering symptoms of the virus, one of whom remains in hospital, but officials have not given any updates on that patient’s condition.

Simple those countries with the Delta variant present need to fully quarantine it’s been found to be killing small amounts of people over 50 who have been fully vaccinated and larger amounts who have not. But it’s recommend that people still take safety measures and quarantine??. 80% vaccinated is the right move by government. Those here who don’t like the way the government is handling this Covid 19 situation should go somewhere else .where wide it’s open or so they claim plain and simple.

Here you have it, a peer reviewed study that calculates the actual risk reward benefit of taking the vaccine.

I have screenshot this post with time, date and url above in my address bar.

*<strong>CNS: I will never post any comment that includes a threat. Pathetic. Also, the academic study you referenced was published on MDPI.
Here’s a review of that publisher: “It is clear that MDPI sees peer review as merely a perfunctory step that publishers have to endure before publishing papers and accepting money from the authors. Also. it’s clear that MDPI’s peer review is managed by clueless clerical staff in China.”

I think we have 55000. Bazinga! We are over 90%. Open

Meanwhile ivermectin efficacy continues to pile up left right and center. It is profoundly effective profoundly safe and yet the suppression of this information continues. It’s a crime.

    • Anonymous says:

It would be good to know if Dr Lee has ordered stockpiles of ivermectin, and the other known therapeutics for the upcoming winter. Travellers will bring back either/both covid and flu. The vax’d may struggle dealing with these viruses due to ADE. The unvax’d may struggle with them becuase they are viruses.
Most of us will be fine of course, but still, be good to know we’re prepared.

Simple prediction – Government will open up the borders, and Miss Corona will be the first tourist. Then we who are not vaccinated will welcome her whilst everyone fearing for their lives will hide behind “their gov” and the needles. May she kiss me with a pale dying looking face! 😉

    • Anonymous says:

What on earth are you taking a bout? When we open, which should be now, of course coronavirus will be in the community. Covid is going nowhere. It’s here to stay. But the vaccine protects against it, and we can’t stay closed when everywhere else is open!

These type of people are of exceptionally low intelligence. They cannot be reasoned with. They run on raw emotion and are easily influenced.

      • Anonymous says:

Stop talking pure foolishness everywhere else is not open ? Its those just like you who are living in your own little selfish delusion about getting back to normal yet the reality of this pandemic has yet to dawn on many you of just how many lives have been lost and still being taken by it.

    • Anonymous says:

      What crap!

    • Anonymous says:

I hope you are either single and living alone or have a will to provide for your family. You certainly have the right to remain unvaccinated, but if you have a family, you need to provide for them in event you die or become incapacitated from a virus that has killed around 4 million people already and left many others permanently disabled.

By the sound of it smokin’ weed will get you before the virus will.

Embarrassing number when we have been so
Lucky to have the vaccines so early. And then you look at the uk – when the vaccine opened to people in their 20s finally last week the queues were unbelievably huge and filling all the vaccination hubs in London football stadiums for example. Pathetic here we have had to offer prizes for something people should be desperate to get. Truly embarrassing. Open the borders and if you refused a vaccine you can pay for your covid healthcare in hospital.

    • Anonymous says:

better yet, refuse them as they clearly don’t think Covid is a concern. So tell them they don’t have anything and send them home.

    • Lockdown works says:

Why don’t you go to the UK if it’s so wonderful then you ungrateful ras .Their and others handling of this pandemic is duly noted along with the horrendous numbers of those who loss their lives because of their careless regard for others !

This new government needs to get needles in arms and borders back open, until they compete both these tasks they will have achieved NOTHING.

  8. Anonymous says:

    Time to open up!
Other islands have been open for almost a year!

  9. Plain and Straight says:

It would probably also be helpful if the vaccination sessions at the Airport were to continue until 7 p.m.!! Why in the world do they stop giving the vaccinations at 4 p.m.???? The times given for the Airport are not very convenient and frankly it just seems nonsensical that the times for the Airport differ from the times for Camana Bay.

Yes, and of cour “repatriation” flights can only use Cayman Airways as a flight provider. That of course has nothing to do with who owns shares in this airline provider… the amount of corruption on this island is shocking.

    • Anonymous says:

Again, do you know that repatriation and vacation are not the same thing?

So Cayman Government should hire another airline other than their own to do repatriation flights? It never ceases to amaze of the ignorance of some people.

It is the country’s airline and yes the government not only has shares but 100% of the shares, school children in China knows that…and that is why the use our own airline. How is that corruption?

If you are desperate to go on vacation charter a private plane. These flight are repatriation flights..Just so that you understand, here are the definitions….

Repatriation..the return of someone to their own country.

Vacation..a period spent away from home or business in travel or recreation.

      • Anonymous says:

They haven’t been repatriation flights as they have been called as if that was the case a lot of expatriates had 15 mths to leave the island and its a money making scheme to the tune of $731 for RT Miami. Lets see after July 1st how many people will travel knowing they have to pay quarantine fees if they aren’t quarantining at home. It won’t be too many trust me on that.

    • Anonymous says:

Who owns shares in CAL? I thought they were owned by the government?

    • Anonymous says:

And they have massively increased the prices from about 300 bucks return to Miami, to about 800 in august

    • Anonymous says:

It won’t be too many people travelling on Cayman Airways come July 1st as upon return they will have to pay for their own quarantine. Govt has no plan as far as I see. I’ve had 3 Coviid-19 test since June 3rd and including last Saturday when I arrived on island and ALL test were negative yet I still have to quarantine. Utter nonsense.

  11. Anonymous says:

11:24am exactly right. Unless the civil servants and politicians salaries are cut we wont see much change. We need to get this country opened dragging there feet.

  12. Anonymous says:

No border opening date, no vaccine.

    • Anonymous says:

      No vaccine, no border opening..

    • Anonymous says:

The vaccine antibodies do not appear to wear off as was wishfully hypothecated to pharmaceutical shareholders back in December 2020. They do not wear off after 6 months. That’s good news for vaccinated, and bad news for those holdouts waiting to rejoice at some unknown contraindication, or proof of clinical ineffectiveness. With over 2 Billion vaccinated, and lots of data, you just look kooky (or really bad with math) by still holding that running down the clock position, and you’re also actively impeding our ability to resume the new normal.

  13. Anonymous says:

60% of today’s “population”, which will change as it creeps towards 70%

  14. Anonymous says:

How many of the recent shipments of vaccines have been used?

  15. Anonymous says:

Why does it matter anymore? The island isn’t opening up for years. Zzzzzzzzz.

    • Anonymous says:

I feel the exact same way. So depressing.

    • db says:

I hate to admit it but you’re right. Wonder how many businesses will be closed forever once the islands finally open? It’s sad to think about.

      • Anonymous says:

11am – the cayman government politicians don’t care about the destroyed economic lives of thousands of people due to border closure as the politicians and civil services hasn’t missed a single pay check this entire time. It’s all about THEM and not about us the people who actually pay the taxes.

        • Anonymous says:

So wait, civil servants nuh pay taxes to? This is probably the most ignorant comment I’ve seen.

          • Anonymous says:

10.13am – think about it, maybe activate your brain this time. If a civil servant “pays taxes”, they arent increasing revenue to the government because their salary already came from government.

          • Philip says:

You must be a civil servant, it’s easy to pay taxes if you have a paycheck, unlike the many that are in the tourism sector whom have no paychecks, it’s also very easy for civil servants to comment about keeping the borders closed, whom do you think pays their salary’s.

          • Anonymous says:

Net of pay, no. Not exactly hard to understand.

          • Anonymous says:

The civil service is one big tax on the rest of us.

      • Anonymous says:

and where is chamber of commerce and cita???…they should be hammering this government everyday.

        • Anonymous says:

Actually it is only a few dozen people who are negatively impacted and thus post here and elsewhere. The majority of the Chamber membership is just fine with how things are.
