(CNS): A lone robber armed with a knife made off with an undisclosed amount of jewellery from Rocky’s Diamond Gallery on Harbour Drive on the George Town waterfront on Saturday morning. Police said they received the report of the stick-up at around 10:30am yesterday after a man entered the jewelry store brandishing a knife and demanded the jewels. He was wearing a long sleeved neon yellow-green shirt, light-coloured cargo-style pants and a dark-coloured baseball cap with a red peak.

Police said the robber fled in a dark coloured Ford SUV, which was parked outside, in the direction of Seven Mile Beach.

The police helicopter was dispatch to help in the pursuit in and around the Swamp area but the suspects were not apprehended. No one was hurt during the jewel heist and so far no one has been arrested.

Detectives are now asking anyone with information about this incident to call the George Town Police Station at 949-4222. Anonymous tips can be provided to the RCIPS Confidential Tip Line at 949-7777 or the website

I pass that jewellery store every day and never see any customers which is hardly surprising. How can they make money when they don’t sell anything?.

Has anyone ever heard of KFC being robbed? I will leave that with you to think about.

How does helicopter time travel work?

    Ok,
so we don’t know the race of the suspect?
and “A lone robber” had a get away driver then?
==> “but the suspects were not apprehended”
Is this the police report and the information is just being passed on? If that’s the case, while investigating this incident you might want to investigate the police

Considering how small Cayman is there should be cameras all over the island like Singapore.
I did a bit of psychology back in the day and I’ve got a hunch this was a result of not having another pension fund withdrawal from those overcharging underperforming pensions.

You would be shocked by the blind spots of CCTV in Cayman despite how much the CCTV programme costs us. Don’t know if CNS has the coverage map but I got it as the result of a FOI request. Everything in the government is a disaster.

As long as you can get away with it, crime actually pays.
    I don’t blame them.

How much has CIG spent to date on CCTV and the new licence plates? Just asking for a friend.

With all its experience in burning cash, Govt should be able to handle WTE all by itself.

Any prospect of some level of description of the suspect (beyond his gender and what he was wearing?).

Why do the police not share even the most basic fundamental information?

    • Anonymous says:

Completely agree. What was his height, weight, race, facial hair, missing teeth, smell like KFC, accent and any piercings on face, belly button or nipples? Not enough description here!

    • anonymous says:

Maybe because the witness hasn’t given a good enough discrption or they are withholding it because they know who it is already.

No CCTV in a jewelry store?

    • Anonymous says:

No offense, but how does one even disappear on the island?

    • Anonymous says:

They haven’t been trained in how to take down a suspect description, or failed that class, even when many private businesses have trained their cash handlers on how to deliver one to them. I’ve seen crash investigators show up to scenes without note paper, pen, or flash light. Hard to believe anyone in that occupation could be so incompetent without it being on purpose.
