For the love of God, Jesus, Mary and the wee donkey will you just take the vaccine? Otherwise I predict a very long period of restricted travel in and out and Govt not allowing open borders…

Everyone has a right to chose.
However I also have a right not to be held hostage I. My own country by the minority that chose not to be vaccinated.
Now that everybody has been given an opportunity for the vaccination .The government need to give a date to now open up ( after all I haven’t seen the new government make a Decision yet?)
If the anti vaxers get ill then so be it. Just dont let them take hospital beds for really sick people. And make them pay for future Covid symptom healthcare.

    • Anonymous says:

Should you pay for future hospital beds you take up after decades of fast food or sugars?

    • Anonymous says:

Stop with the being held hostage. You can come and go anytime, you just don’t like the requirements…I get it, but STOP with the being held hostage, you should be grateful for being here and living quite normally compared to the rest of the world.

Wake me up two years from today. This is too much

It blows my mind that only such a small percentage of the adult population has willingly taken the vaccination most people in other countries that have lived under lockdowns, been unable to see loved ones and have been unable to live somewhat of a normal life would give their right hand to be able to receive the vaccination right now and not have to wait for supply or wait for their age group to avail of the jab. The Cayman government should only make the vaccination available for free until a certain date and then after such time charge people I guarantee you there be a lot more takers if they knew that they had to pay after a certain date

Lets start charging people for excercising their free will. That will go well when it starts.

*CNS: You’re making no sense. There was nothing in the comment about fining people. They suggested motivating people by only offering the vaccine free of charge for a limited period.

“Oh you don’t want to get a vaccine made in 3 months for which you can’t hold any single person or entity responsible if you get an adverse side effect, PAY THE FINE!”… “Oh, you don’t want to put this microchip / tracker on your person or device so that we can track you. If you don’t have anything to hide why are you against it.. its for your own safety… PAY THE FINE!”

*CNS: As soon as you mention microchip trackers we all know that you are soaking up conspiracy theories on Facebook. This has been debunked hundreds of times, but here is one: No, COVID-19 vaccine patients are not being injected with a microchip

I would hope that people have the critical thinking to realize that once any one with a little bit of power gets away with something, they will never relenquish it. Give the government the notion its okay to fine people for excercising free will and soon we will all have to start paying fines for not going to church, or worse.

Why are people so fine with giving up their freedom to big brother. Scared, spineless individuals.

*CNS: It’s hard to grapple with so many routes into Crazy Town. I don’t know what you think critical thinking is, but this is not it. Ditto courage. The Bill of Rights grants you freedom of conscience which among other things guarantees your right to go to the church of your choice. No, the government is not going to fine you for that. I can’t believe I just had to write that.

Free will is not the right to do anything you want. For example, you cannot drive at 100pmh however much you want to because you become a danger to others. Children must be vaccinated before they go to school because this is for the collective good. Planes might not allow on to board if you haven’t been vaccinated and countries may not let you in for the same reason. They have the right to do that to protect their people.

        Thank you so much CNS..

These people totally lack common sense and good judgement. These are the people like the Trump supporters that watch their love ones die and continue to say that covid is fake and that someone is injecting you with a microchip to track you..For Christs sake you walk around everyday with a smart phone or computer and you really think Bill Gates would have to inject you with a vaccine to track you?

Come on people, this is bordering on the point of ridiculousness now.

I say the Government gives a cut off date and if they don’t want to take the vaccine, let them bear the circumstances. What is unfortunate is that health care costs will go through the roof for everyone and our hospitals which has not been riddled with covid patients will start to fill up and local deaths will come into play.

My entire family have been responsible not just for our safety but for our friends, work colleagues and the like. Nobody has been tracking me that I know about and to be honest I don’t think I am that important for Bill Gates to take a shine to me nor have I grown any extra limbs or horns. As a matter of fact their are millions of people around the world that have been vaccinated that are well and healthy and helping to get us back to some sense of normalcy.

I only have one body and one life. I take good care of it and believe my innate immune system is robust.
It is not my duty to save you from any harms life presents. It is your job to take care of yourself.

So I am not going to sacrifice my health and possibly life, especially for a questionable cause. Ask me in 2 years.

        • Anonymous says:

If you only could opt-out of receiving medical care if you become sick from the virus…then we could go along with your stupidity.
When push comes to shove, most people don’t care about you personally, but we care if you needlessly take up a hospital bed. This isn’t about you, it’s about the hospitals not being able to cope and handle all the other medical issues they handle on a day-to-day basis because some dumb assess (or donkeys, whatever floats your boat) won’t take the vaccine. If you took a critical look at all the stuff you willingly put into your boady on a daily basis it’s likely that that stuff far worse for you than the vaccine.

    • Anonymous says:

Completely agree! Or set a date for reopening of July 1. That will prompt a lot of people to get vaccinated I’m sure!

    • Anonymous says:

No reason to take it until a solid border opening date is set. Until then we are safe and secure.

    • SSM345 says:

Wait till the borders open later this year and those without the vaccine help spread the COVID outbreak like wildfire which our hospitals won’t be able to handle before turning around and blaming the Govt.

      It’s guaranteed.

    • SSM345 says:

They will be the ones that put us back into full down and then will continue to complain.

Vaccination should be a requirement for hospitality workers that are receiving the monthly stipend. No vax no cash!

If someone is on work permit and wants to remain working in the Cayman Islands make it mandatory! Vaccinations have been made mandatory for you to get visas to visit certain parts of the World from for ever! Caymanians whom choose not to take it for whatever reason whether logical or not, will have to bare the full travel restrictions! Period.

Perhaps require all who are receiving Gov. welfare to get vaccinated to qualify for continued free money.

There is absolutely no excuse for the low take up. An absolute embarrassment. It comes down to lack of education but it is a disgrace 50 per cent of adults in cayman have not yet been no three to make it to the airport to have both jabs. They will most likely be forced to wear masks, socially distance at all times in cayman, shops and restaurants can choose their own policy so I fully expect most to not allow non-vaccinated people in when we open up gradually from June, and obviously they will never be able to fly off island on a plane at all. Why would anyone choose that course, especially when we know our last vaccines all expire in June 9. The stupidity of some people is astonishing.

    • Mumbichi says:

You are free with the insults. You have clearly taken the mRNA jabs. Both of them, or else you wouldn’t feel so righteous.

If you have taken the vaccine, and you believe it works, then what threat, pray tell, does anyone pose toward you??

You have made what you believe is an informed choice. I have researched and made an informed choice. I don’t rely upon any tv pundit, or website, or youtube or American former president. I am educated. There is little about the virus or various vaccines in which I am unaware. You and me simply disagree. It doesn’t make either one of us a hick or an idiot.

I would enjoy debating the issue with you, but for now I will just say that there are a myriad of reasons that an informed person might choose to not take the mRNA vaccine. You, nor people like you, have not earned the right to malign me, nor to accuse me of being uninformed or a sheep driven by conspiracy theorists.

I endorse your right to choose for yourself. I wish you safety and health.

There are no studies that even show the vaccine is unsafe. The only possible logical sound argument I have heard as to why not to take it is long term side effects are unknown past 6 months. But even this is nothing to be concerned about. This vaccine, while new, works similarly to traditional vaccines. The only difference is the way it triggers the immune system. It does the same job just differently.

For vaccinations, side effects are always in the first 3 months. This is why they waited for the 3 month safety data before rolling the vaccine out. The chance this vaccine is going to be an issue due to adverse events is about 2 to 4 out of 1,000,000 people. Even when there is an issue for those tiny few, it’s even rarer to be fatal.

Vaccines have shown to be remarkably safe even in long term data sets(source: https://www.ajmc.com/view/review-of-20-years-of-data-concludes-vaccines-are-remarkably-safe). I don’t know what sources and what research you are doing but you are coming to a very controversial conclusion.

Its not just about personal protection as well. It about protection not only for yourself, but others around you. Your post just seems selfish…

A few people have actually gotten Pfizer’s vaccine (BNT162b26) over a year ago now. It’s the exact same one we’re getting today.

Obviously Pfizer can’t use such a small test to make bold claims publicly, but it’s still very reassuring.

In my opinion, there was some risk to be one of the first people ever to get vaccinated in April 2020. We are well past that stage. You are more likely to get into an accident driving to the clinic than die at the clinic from the vaccine.

      • Annon says:

Well then, good news for you. The Astra Zeneca vaccine is not the same as the mRNA vaccines, so hustle yourself down to the airport and get your Astra Zeneca jab. No excuses not to do that, huh?

    • Anonymous says:

I think getting vaccinated should be a requirement to keep a work permit.

    • Anonymous says:

Let us ‘hesitant’ know how you’re doing in a month, two months, five, six, ten, 12, etc…. You are the experiment after all. 🙂

      • Anonymous says:

You are actually wrong but have fun when you get covid and the long term effects are worse than the little chills I got for 2 hours.

        • Anonymous says:

Gladly. We know the risks and are excersing our right to choose. Its people like you who are trying to guilt trip us into taking something. If we are that stupid and the virus is that deadly, then let us die out. Let natural selection do its thing. I don’t get the grand standing and brow beating.

CNS: Because sadly, you may not be the one who suffers and dies. The more people who are unvaccinated, the more chance that the virus will mutate to a version that is more deadly and spreads more rapidly. You can also pass it on to someone who cannot take a vaccine for health reasons, such as a child with vulnerabilities.

And as tempting as it is to just let you die in your bed at home if you get sick with covid, the reality is that you would end up in hospital because your stupidity doesn’t trump medical ethics. If there is an outbreak and enough people who have refused the vaccination take up a lot of hospital beds, this could affect other people who get sick.

Why would anyone prefer the AZ vaccine over the Pfizer one? Lots more safety and efficacy data for Pfizer.

GET VACCINATED SO WE CAN GET BACK TO NORMAL!

    • Mumbichi says:

There are a lot of people that don’t fit the criteria of the mRNA vaccine. There are quite a few people that have been on the list for the AZ vaccine.

It’s not a matter of “preference”.

    • Anonymous says:

Some people are allergic to ingredients in the Pfizer vaccine but not the AZ shot.

    • Anon says:

It’s not really a case of “preferring” there are some who want to get vaccinated but can’t get the Pfizer due to medical conditions. By having a supply of the AZ, it gives those an opportunity to get vaccinated

I think the Minister of Education should step up to the plate and get a picture of her being vaccinated or show her vaccination card if she has already done so. We need these so-called leaders to step to the plate and bring their church peeps into line.

Go get your damn vaccine so we can open up!

Your god only helps those who help themselves so help yourself and get vaccinated!
