Dive boat hits the rocks on Boggy Sand beach

| 20/04/2021 | 18 Comments

(CNS): Harbour House Marine boat salvage teams were out in West Bay this morning after a local dive boat broke from is moorings in the choppy seas and drifted to shore, landing on rocks along Boggy Sand Beach. The owners and boat repair crews are struggling to move the vessel, which has been damaged as a result of its unscheduled trip but is too heavy for the winch brought onto the beach. Efforts are reportedly being made to bail and patch the boat so it can be pulled back into the water and then towed to a marina.

Not a dive boat. She was a pleasure cruiser.
Owners working hard to collect every piece of trash, and anything else that washed up on the beach.
Engines and fuel tanks remained intact, with no leaks into environment. We will be returning to the beach every day to collect anything else that washes up over the next week or so.
I work for the owner as a mechanic. All my tools were on board, and all lost, but thats nothing compared to what the owner lost.
    Boat is a total loss.

Doesn’t look like a dive boat to me. No five ladders or tank racks.

dive industry…terrible for the environment…but always gets a pass?

The dive industry is what keeps tourists coming back to the island. Without diving, tourists would go to other islands. It’s not like they coming here to sit around and visit Camana Bay or visit the mini-Miami that is George Town. No diving=loss of the majority of your income. But hey were not depending on these people to help us survive. You do you bobo.

The dive industry does more for the local environment than any other organization. Its not even close. What an incredibly ignorant statement.
