(CNS): Public health officials have now administered 15,314 doses of the Pfizer COVID-19 vaccine to 9,118 people, and 6,196 individuals have already had two doses.

Meanwhile, the number of active cases of the coronavirus among the 798 people in quarantine and isolation fell Wednesday to just 29 after two days of negative test results. There are currently just three travellers who are still suffering symptoms of the virus.

As the vaccine programme presses on, public health officials are focusing on second doses of the vaccine on Thursday and Friday, though anyone over the age of 60 who has not yet been vaccinated can also get the first shot at the designated clinics.

I’m not a big fan of the HSA based on multiple personal experiences and some horrors suffered by friends, so I wasn’t surprised that when I went to get my first COVID vaccination a few weeks ago, it was a disorganized mess (2.5 hours to get through). However, giving credit where credit is due, when I went to get my second vaccination at the airport, it was one of the best organized situations I’ve ever seen out of a Cayman government department. Well done HSA and staff!

CNS, this is the third time I have requested information on the number of people who have gotten shots on Cayman Brac/Little Cayman.
Doesn’t Government, in their infinite wisdom, keep track of this sort of stuff? And if you requested the information wouldn’t they gladly share it with you?
Miss Nicky, you use to live on Brac, so this bracca reaching out to you for assistance.
    Thanks

CNS: At the last press briefing Wendy asked Dr Lee if they could break down the figures – she’s had a number of requests – and the answer was basically that they don’t have the time. I’ll ask the HSA tomorrow for you about the Brac specifically.

Thank you. It shouldn’t be that hard of a thing for to figure out.

Also, please let the public know that there are some elderly persons here on Brac who have made it clear to HSA/Public Health that they do not want to get the vaccine. However a number of elderly have since gotten multiple calls trying to coax,, persuade, harass them into getting the vaccine.
I am not sure why health officials are trying to intimidate these elderly folks who have clearly said “no” and this practice needs to stop – as this amounts to harassment under telecommunications laws.

        Great points!

I hope these people will be made to sign a declaration that they are refusing this preventative treatment, and that they, their estate, family and heirs will be responsible for their medical costs in the event they catch covid and need medical treatment. If a vaccine is on offer and it is refused, then the government should not be responsible later to pay for expensive medical treatment for anything covid related.

So you’re saying it’s ok for the vaccine companies and governments to have ZERO liability if someone is badly affected by a vaccine but if a person doesnt want to be part of the 24 month, Stage 3, worldwide, human trials, they should be fully and personally liable for exercising their rights?

2:02, ridiculous thoughts! Everyone is entitled to CHOOSE if they want to decry the vaccine.

Probably because they need as many of the vulnerable to get vaccinated before opening up the borders. Kind of depends on why they are saying no, if it’s fear or lack of knowledge then maybe the calls will help, but they should know that age is one of the biggest factors in a bad outcome, 8 out of 10 deaths from Covid have been over 65’s. I do agree that maybe random calls isn’t the way, and I would have hoped that family would do the persuading/explaining the importance of this. At the end of the day, whilst it might not be nice, it could save their life.

I am healthy, neither do I consider myself old. I am getting the vaccine to protect my family and others like the elderly who I come into contact with. There is a reason they are getting follow up calls, when the borders open, and they will, those elderly refusing the vaccine will the most vulnerable, and potentially could die. Simple. So no, the efforts to convince them should not stop.

The only person you MAY be protecting is yourself. It is public information that there is NO confirmation yet of vaccinated persons NOT getting or spreading the virus.

          • Anonymous says:

Initial test have shown it to be about 65% effective in reducing the spread of the virus, but the sample size was small, so caution is advised on using that number!

Yet they are able to calculate percentages of age groups vaccinated……🤔🤔🤔
